I have volunteered for and been part of St. Vincent de Paul (and other "food assistance" organizations) for the last 25 years... and witnessed the incredible work done by nonprofit providers. Food is the literal and figurative entree into vulnerable populations getting the holistic help they need. As chief program officer for SVdP, I am grateful the City is considering this important funding for those experiencing food insecurity during the Covid pandemic. Covid has caused extra financial hardship for many and this funding will help food providers support those in need and continue to prevent more homelessness in our community. The increased need in the community will be felt for a long time to come, and this funding will literally be a lifesaver for so many. Thank you!
