Please support and provide relief for people who will be disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

I do not support funding for non-citizens until our veterans have been cared for. We have many veterans returning to homelessness and we don't have enough resources to take care of them at the moment. This vital community needs to be addressed first.

In recent weeks, there has been a lot of advocacy for direct assistance for families, including by several City Councilpeople. Vulnerable community members, such as refugees, asylum seekers, and undocumented people are being disproportionately affected and therefore relief must be provided for them. I ask you to support the $2 million dollar relief fund to provide emergency assistance for these wonderful families. Disproportionate impact calls for targeted investment.

As the son and grandson of refugees, I am personally knowledgeable about the benefits of supporting immigrant families. Our immigrant neighbors are important pillars of our community, and heavily over represented among "essential workers". By supporting these families now, we can ensure that their American dream does not end, and lay a path for future generations to join and strengthen our community. Please, Phoenix, support refugees and asylum speakers during this crisis.

As the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic evolve, we must recognize the need to address the health and safety of the entire community and to ensure that no population is left behind in the recovery, including highly diverse refugee and immigrant residents who are significant contributors to the Phoenix workforce and economy. These communities are largely depended on as workers maintaining essential job duties and they are being disproportionately impacted and unable to access many mainstream funds

Please support this community that needs dire help from our local government! They are intrinsically valuable and needed in our workplaces, neighborhoods, churches, and society. This is a necessary step in helping their families and the injustices they've faced in their home countries. This is the land of the free, where every person has the right to safety, empowerment, and basic needs.

I wholeheartedly endorse including aid to refugees and asylulm seekers to city wide assistance. These individuals are among the most at risk as a result of our current pandemic crisis and deserve to be treated like all other Phoenix residents. To do otherwise would be wrong and indeed, inhumane. Thank your for considering my comment.

The city of Phoenix is a great city! A city with opportunity that should also be a city of refuge! We have the resources to support the most vulnerable in our community. Let's do the right thing and put our resources towards those who come here to strive and prosper. As the fifth largest city in the country, we can set an example of being a city that uses its resources for the most vulnerable. Let's be a leading city. Let's be city of compassionate and grace. Let's do the right thing!

Please vote YES to support the $2 million dollar relief fund to give direct assistance for emergency funding for refugee and asylum seeking communities. These relief funds will go directly to help support essential needs for migrant working families who are financially struggling and facing severe hardships due to COVID-19. Vote yes to support these relief funds. Thank you.

Phoenix has a long history of supporting refugees and asylum seekers. (Much of the city's successful anti-trafficking work originated in Refugee Assistance programs.) It would be regressive not to provide this funding. I urge the council to support this $2 million, with the recognition that it is a small and necessary piece of fulfilling a larger need. It is also vital that the council work with groups already serving refugees/asylees to ensure support gets into the hands of those who need it.

How you vote on this measure will reveal in which direction your moral compass is pointed. All human life has value, and all people need help in responding to this COVID crisis. Please direct $2M (or MORE) towards providing that assistance to those human beings who are undocumented.

I urge the Phoenix City Council to support $2 million dollars in emergency relief funding for refugee and asylum-seeking communities to overcome challenges accessing COVID relief support. Refugees are also part of our community, it's time we help and support them.

I strongly support the $2M relief fund for refugee and asylum seeking families who are being adversely affected by the pandemic. As a board member for Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest I have been able to witness the amazing resolve and tenacity these folks bring to creating a new life in this place while contributing to the community. They need help now to meet their essential needs so they can continue to make a difference in this place!

My Unitarian Universalist values tell me our priority in this pandemic is to care for, support, and protect the most vulnerable among us.
Undocumented folks, who in so many cases are front line workers, are keeping our city going at great personal risk. We count them in our census for funding; they should have access to services!
Phoenix has a huge rainy day fund... and right now, its raining! 2million is a start, but it's time to spend to support those who need it. We can't afford not to.

I've volunteered with refugees in AZ for more than 15 years, and they consistently are some of the hardest working, most generous people I know. They're my family, friends and neighbors, and they're especially vulnerable right now. They're here to stay--so let us invest in our own community by supporting them. I urge the Phoenix City Council to support $2 million in emergency-relief funding for refugee and asylum-seeking communities to overcome challenges accessing COVID relief support.
