32 Request Authorization to Enter Into Contract with Arizona Community Action Association, DBA Wildfire, for COVID-19 Emergency Utility, Rent and Mortgage Assistance Services (Ordinance S-46644)
We are calling on City Council to instruct Wildfire to remove any requirements around immigration status for Phoenix residents applying for COVID-19 relief money.
Yesterday, over 200 community members made comments in support of crises relief for everyone, regardless of legal status. Phoenix benefits and profits from undocumented community through their taxes or census count. We must assure undocumented communities are also provided relief in this time. The city needs to allocate funds to undocumented community, how we invest today will impact our families for generations to come.
I urge the Council to support providing COVID relief for all Phoenicians, regardless of their immigration status. To not include our most vulnerable populations in relief during a pandemic does not reflect the values of our community, City, and presumably, the elected officials who sit on this Council. The City of Phoenix runs a $4b+ budget-there can be no excuse, fiscally or morally, for not appropriating these funds. Thank you in advance for doing the right thing.
I strongly urge the council to make a vote that does not discriminate against the undocumented community. Regardless of immigration status, undocumented people contribute every day to the local economy. In this crucial time, it is important that we leave no one behind or out any relief or aid from our city. Our undocumented community must be included.
Please provide relief for all Phoenix residents regardless of their immigration status. Everyone that lives in the city pays sales tax, spends their money in the city, fills out their Census so that they can get us funding, and contributes in numerous ways. I urge you to ensure that our most vulnerable community members are included in this.
Immigration requirements should be removed. Our community members all need help right now regardless of status. Our well-being is a collective effort, in the good times and the bad.
On behalf of Chispa Arizona, we ask the Mayor and council to support a budget that includes all that live in Phoenix. Chispa AZ believes environmental justice requires social justice; we call upon the council to reflect Phoenix community values and invest in programs and services that support healthy communities. This includes support regardless of immigration status as undocumented workers and families keep our community thriving; it is time the City of Phoenix supports them too.
Relief assistance during this COVID-19 pandemic should not be tied to immigration status. Please do the humane thing and let’s ensure help is provided to our hardest hit community regardless of immigration status.
Why is there no eviction moratorium for Phoenix, Arizona? Why are you allowing 700 thousands phoenix tenants to be evicted in the middle of a pandemic? Where is the accountability?

Let’s support all our residents. Let’s not create unnecessary restrictions during crises. We shouldn’t leave no one behind.
