I ask that you de-fund the police and instead allocate those funds towards policing alternatives, Police reform, a citizens board, investments in mental health and trauma services, education, and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Redirect funds and spend more on social programs to improve public safety. Putting money into community resources to help educate and provide services to Phoenix citizens who need them. The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education, and after school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Phoenix budget vote is tomorrow and as a Phoenix taxpayer I urge you to defund the police now! PHXPD is one of the most lethal in the nation and does not have any consequences, increasing their budget during a pandemic is not the answer. (1)

I want a change in our societal systems, including policing, education, health, and well being. And that starts with the purse, specifically defunding policing as it is currently constituted.

We want you to defund/de-weaponize the police and pour more resources and funds into our communities, specifically communities historically and systematically marginalized. That means: better education and school systems, better mental health services, better jobs and more of them, affordable healthcare, safe and affordable housing, and sustainability initiatives. Stop spending money on the police force when you can invest in the lives of people before any police presence is required.

The Phoenix police department has proven that it’s been grossly over funded and that money is being used to brutalize and steal the citizens liberty and life. It’s imperative to cut their funding and it can be better used to get essential workers protective gear, keep are children safe. Stop the oppression.

Instead of adding funds to an already grossly over-funded Phoenix Police Department, we instead pull funds to programs we desperately need. We can use this funding for more medical equipment for hospitals to help with this very much still active pandemic. Our consistently underfunded school systems could also use more funds. I would prefer to see funds pulled from Phoenix PD for these programs as they are a higher priority and benefit Arizona as a whole.

I urge you to redirect funds to programs that can heal and educate our community. The city of Phoenix deserves alternatives in policing and instead have an investment in healthcare, education programs, public transit, sustainability, and more employment opportunities. Please as well divest ICE and law enforcement. Peaceful protestors should not be arrested for their freedom of speech.

I stand in solidarity with my community. We want to see the Phoenix PD DEFUNDED. Gallegos- are you listening now? This is the time for white people to take action based on the guidance from black and indigenous people of color. We want more prevention programs. Changing the name of our correctional facilities to rehabilitation is not suffice!

    Hi,
We all saw the protest going on and people getting hurt by the officers. Instead of wasting money for "protection" which showed us it will not help but burn more and more funding since people know their rights and that is freedom of speech. You know it is unacceptable behavior that needs to be brought to light. I urge you to defund the PHX PD! We need money in education, mental health services, healthcare and employment opportunities.

I'm 18, and I've lived in Phoenix for most of my life. I'm disgusted that Phoenix is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police brutality. How can we be proud of Phoenix when it's known for violence? Thus, I urge you to DEFUND THE PHOENIX PD. Instead, invest in the community. Invest in housing, the arts, sustainability, public transit, and the civilian review board. Make Phoenix known for taking comprehensive action against police brutality & systemic racism.

Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create a safe community. Increase the proposed budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment. Phoenix Police is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health/trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

I am Haylee Stanage from Maricopa County in Arizona. I am a taxpayer, urging you to DEFUND THE PHOENIX POLICE DEPARTMENT, the most lethal police department in the nation, in tomorrows budget vote. Release body camera footage of Dion Johnsons murder and arrest the officers involved. DIVEST FROM ICE. DIVEST FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT. Do not continue to allow the police to arrest peaceful protesters.

As a Phoenix tax payer I urge you to DEFUND POLICE NOW. PHXPD is the most lethal in the nation, does not face consequences, increasing their budget during a pandemic is not the answer.

We still don’t have bodycams of Dion Johnson’s shooting while he slept in his car. Why PHXPD was so violent with peaceful protestors. WHY DID POLICE HAVE MORE PPE than nurses and doctors? Take a stand a defund police now. I urge you to have a conscience, do the right thing for our communities and defund police
