As a veteran & someone who has been evicted and experienced homelessness it is imperative that this be a real solution with eviction prev. pgms. Are you all aware that 4 people have passed away in the tents in the zone, near CASS? This is inhumane to think it is ok to allow people to sleep out in 100+ degrees. I ask you all as public servants how can you morally be ok by voting $25 mill to the police who are violent and continue to abuse their power than to help people who are truly in need ?

Justa Center is grateful for the City making extraordinary steps to support seniors in homelessness and those who could become homeless during the hottest months in Phoenix. The effect from COVID-19 on mental health, lack of access to services and support, and the economic turn that hasn't hit yet. The most recent UPenn study, shows an estimated increase 3-fold in the next 5-6 years - over a quarter million seniors nationally. Together we can make Phoenix shine as a community that cares.

We at St Vincent de Paul are so grateful that the City is considering heat relief support during this very dangerous time. We have been saying that COVID-19 MAY impact those we serve - those living on the street. But the heat absolutely WILL gravely impact those we serve. We need to address both at the same time and are ready to partner with the City to work to save lives this summer.
