This TA was rushed through without notice to the public, does not consider distancing. The push to expand is based on med. marijuana cardholders growth which is not a valid basis. This TA was created & pushed by 3 m. m. dispensaries. The attorney representing these entities refused to reveal her clients until after the Village presentations. No other stakeholders i.e., dispensaries, residential & commercial neighbors, schools, churches, etc. were asked for input. Deny.
My concern and question is how a private organization wanting this change for the good of their business, is able through their legal counsel to request that a City code and Ordinance be changed. The dog and pony show to the Village Planning Committees, was filled with inaccurate information that when questioned, the counsel did not know the answer and as far as I know, never got back to anyone. Please do not approve this amendment based on the incorrect information and precedent.
Mayor, Vice Mayor and Council: this is, once again, being rushed through the process with a poorly substantiated staff report and unanswered questions about the lack of increased spacing requirements for dispensaries. The report fails to compare Phoenix to our most similar Valley city, Mesa, whose dispensaries are limited to 2500 s.f. Please vote to deny this TA.
