We definitely support the gated alley program, although our alley has just been approved and the gates have not been installed yet, the 83% of the neighbors can’t wait to have it done, we have been dealing with people camping in our alley, over dosing, jumping into the back yards, using it as a restroom, encampments set on fire, properties being stolen from back yards, taking trash out of the black dumpsters, etc.
We encourage the city of Phoenix to continue with this program
We fully support the gated alley expansion in our district. Since the gate was installed, we have noticed a significant decline of transients roaming the alley, and the gate has helped to maintain our alley clean and safe. This is a huge improvement and a step in the right direction.
I support this program based on the success I personally experienced when my alley got gated. Prior we had transients camping out, vehicles driving through scoping out back yards for items of value, trash being dumped and unsavory characters roaming around at all hours - I never felt safe, nor did my neighbors. Since the gates have been installed I seldom see ANYONE in the alley, trash is minimal and I haven't had one report of a house in the gated area being broken into from the rear.
