Do not let GCU expand their property line while displacing families! I can't believe we have to beg and plead so the "private christian" college doesn't flatten homes all in the name of adding more square footage to their name. This city refuses to treat lower income citizens with respect and dignity and have the chance to do so NOW by not allowing GCU to displace them. PEOPLE OVER PROFITS. Do as you promised as elected officials and protect your citizens from the hand of greed.
Phoenix becomes more unaffordable every day. This is a direct result of city council policies that encourage wealthy developers and landlords to buy up people’s homes so they can kick them out on the street and build subpar housing at sky high prices. City council has a chance today to change that narrative and start protecting the people of this city. It’s well within your power to zone these mobile home parks as Mobile Homes and stop greedy developers from destroying lives.
am appalled at the treatment of the mobile home residents facing eviction as a result of GCU’s greed. As the city council talks about zoning enough property in this city to accommodate the rising population in our city, nothing is being done to make a large majority of this housing affordable. These mobile home residents have lived in their homes for years and are represented by Chair Betty Guardado. Fight for your constituents and declare mobile home zoning on the existing homes!
As a tenant in Phoenix, I have seen gentrification from landlords (GCU) force friends & families into precarity. With 20,000+ mobile homes in Phoenix, all at risk of robbery by investors looking to profit at the price of evicting families, the City must side with the mobile homes & stand up against capitalists. No more Prop 207 excuses! The short-term solutions proposed are inadequate! I support the residents’ demands for Mobile Home Zoning Ordinance. PROTECT FAMILIES & END THE DISPLACEMENT NOW.
Community members are falling into homelessness everyday and if GCU successfully evicts these residents, city council would be contributing directly to the issue. The homelessness task forces you claim to have will be all performative optics. These residents are already home. Please do not let a mega institution like GCU continue to displace people from their homes! You have the power as city council members to save this community. Declare Mobile Home Zoning on the existing homes now!
The displacement of families from Periwinkle Mobile Homes is a disgrace, no more displacement under the guise of development. There is no where for these families to go because Phoenix City Council fails to provide adequate public housing for the working majority which elected them in the first place. I support the families of Periwinkle Mobile Homes and their call to zone the property for mobile homes.
I strongly oppose this development and the displacement of low income Phoenicians and seniors. Displacing the residents of mobile home parks is in direct conflict with the City’s Homeless Strategies Plan of preserving existing affordable housing and could increase an already overwhelmed homelessness response system. I urge the city to consider how constantly displacing folks in preference for new development will exacerbate the homelessness crisis this city is currently experiencing.
I strongly oppose the displacement and land grabbing being done under the guise of development! The families being evicted have nowhere to go and the support the city has proposed is laughable. How does the city have tens of millions to continue militarizing the deadliest police force in the nation yet is unwilling to intercede on behalf of mobile home residents being evicted due to forces beyond their control? I support the demands of the tenants, especially for Mobile Home Zoning Ordinance.
The City of Phoenix should not prevent landowners from developing land they own. It should not matter if the property is owned by Joe Schmo or if it's owned by GCU. How are developers supposed to create denser housing without being able to develop the land? The city and GCU in this case have provided significant amounts of assistance to the residents to find housing alternatives.
I strongly oppose this development. Displacing the residents of mobile home parks is in direct conflict with the City’s Homeless Strategies Plan of preserving existing affordable housing. The report submitted is informative but underwhelming in terms of impact. It should include the % of residents impacted by and/or potentially qualified for each intervention. It is also disappointing to know that there is local research for best practices that was not implemented. We have to do better.
I oppose the conclusions of the City's research report. Eviction and displacement are forms of violence. Instead of looking for ways to help keep families in their homes, this report is full of ambiguous excuses for why the city cannot act to prevent the imminent eviction of mobile home residents. Stop misusing prop 207 to justify inaction. Siding with developers like GCU perpetuates Phoenix's violent legacy of displacement and gentrification. Declare Mobile Home Zoning on existing homes now!
GCU's aggressive land acquisition strategy in the Phoenix area is leading to gentrification, unaffordable housing, displacement, and homelessness for long-time residents. This situation calls for urgent action, including the implementation of Mobile Home Zoning to protect the rights of the affected residents. Additionally, we must put an end to the misuse of Prop 207, which has enabled greedy developers to pursue their interests without regard for the needs of the community.
I have been a renter in the Phoenix area for the last five years. Even in that time, I have personally witnessed the increase in the housing crisis for people of all walks of life here. With 20,000+ mobile homes in Phoenix, all at risk of robbery by investors looking to profit at the price of evicting families, the City must side with the mobile homes. No more Prop 207 excuses! The short-term solutions proposed are inadequate! I support the residents’ demands for Mobile Home Zoning Ordinance.
The city council cannot allow this eviction to take place. For years our city has struggled with community members falling into to homelessness and if GCU is able to go through with forcing these residents out of their homes, city council would be contributing directly to the issue. Small payouts are inadequate solutions when there is no affordable housing in this city. Declare Mobile Home Zoning on the existing homes now!

As a resident of the Phoenix metro area, I have watched as more and more people are not able to find housing they can afford and as the prices keep rising year after year. Prop 207 is being misused to suit the interests of wealthy developers while families are offered a measly one-time payment and 6 months to completely change their lives. This is indefensible. I support the tenant’s demands to IMMEDIATELY zone the land their houses are on as Mobile Home Zoning and END their displacement.
