Please say "NO" to Automated Enforcement - "NO" to ticketing cameras for Phoenix. The City of Phoenix wants to reinstate automated enforcement with red light and speed cameras in the name of making the roads more safe. My experience has been that many times the driver(s) become startled when the lights flash and have a tendency to stop, sometimes blocking the intersection. Once they realize what has occurred they continue on their way. This is not an improvement in safety in my opinion.
Right now, the City of Phoenix is trying to reinstate automated enforcement with red light and speed cameras, mailing you traffic tickets automatically in the name of improving safety.
These strategies are a problem for many reasons. Specifically, they do NOT increase safety but they DO inconvenience drivers as a part of the goal of getting people out of their cars. In fact, automated enforcement is a key priority of Vision Zero!
