I lost my only brother & youngest sibling to police violence. My parents had to bury their youngest child. We were met with disdain, misinformation, disrespect for his value as a human & were left with more questions than answers. We discovered the years of dereliction of duty, accountability & inaction by Mayor Gallego, PPD and the city council have contributed to many families like ours losing a loved on. I support full transparency of the DOJ investigation to the citizens of this city.

We shouldn't have to "support" our council into doing what's right by our community. Be transparent! I am in full support of the Citizen Petition.

As someone who lost my brother to police violence,& a citizen that was part of the investigation,I fully support this citizen petition. My brother's rights were violated,& his life was taken,& my family (& countless others) has every right to the full report & detailed findings of the DOJ investigation,& not just a mere summary. The police department has proven time & time again that they are not a self correcting agency. The community demands transparency of the City & their Police Department.

Since 2014, Mayor Gallego has turned a blind eye to the pain & suffering caused by Phoenix police. Today she has an opportunity to finally admit that she has been wrong; that her failure to take action has caused harm to residents & our city as a whole. Mayor Gallego: Will you take responsibility for your actions & finally admit that Phoenix police have a pattern of using excessive force against children, particularly children of color? Tell the truth and call for the DOJ to release the report.

Phoenix residents have experienced years of violent, racist, escalatory policing. It's deeply disrespectful to families and survivors of Phoenix police violence -- and to ALL City of Phoenix residents -- to obstruct the full release of the DOJ investigation. It's also disrespectful to those of us who, like me, trusted the process and were interviewed by the DOJ. Please vote in favor of this resolution and call the DOJ to publicly release the full report of the findings as soon as they're ready.

The Phoenix Police, under the leadership of Mayor Gallego and this city council, have engaged in reprehensible conduct. It is long overdue for this body to admit its complicity in and take accountability for the ways it has enabled and supported violent discrimination through the police department. Stop delaying action on the DOJ investigation. Vote in favor of this resolution, admit your role in the history of police violence and call the DOJ to publicly release the full report of the findings.

Years of repeated constitutional violations by the Phoenix police department did not happen by accident. It took years of inaction, mismanagement, and callous disregard by Mayor Gallego, these council members, and their predecessors. According to news reports, the city and police department turned over millions of records that they have had access to for years but have hidden from the public and the Office of Accountability and Transparency. Take responsibility. Approve the petition.

It's time for City Council and Mayor Gallego to take responsibility for there they have played in covering and supporting the violence and harm caused by the Phoenix Police department. Families and survivors of Phoenix police violence call on Mayor Gallego and the Council to demand the full public release of the DOJ investigation.

I support this petition. I cannot believe we are forcing our city council and mayor to be transparent.

For the past few months, we have seen a propaganda campaigns by the city and PLEA to try to get the DOJ to not release the full findings report and instead calling for a summary/ technical assistance letter. This council needs to take responsibility over their role in creating one of the deadliest police depts in the country. Mayor and Council must admit complicity of the track record of police violence, retaliation against protesters, and unconstitutional policing.

Since 2018 Phoenix Police has consistently been the deadliest department in the nation. Mayor Gallego & Phx City Council have made policy decisions that protect & shield Phx PD while ignoring the community's cries for accountability. PLEA has tried to delegitimize the DOJ investigation & block the full findings report from being released. Constituents deserves the FULL, UNFILTERED truth that only this report can provide & this council needs to support a full findings report of the investigation.
