I wish I were surprised that Phoenix City Council is once again prioritizing police over adequate public service programs such as heat relief centers, water stations, eviction protection services, and other community needs. Unfortunately this is a pattern that we are all exhausted by. Every year the City of Phoenix is breaking records of heat-related deaths AND police-related deaths. Shame on you all for planning to not serve your most vulnerable citizens. You still have time to do better.
If $80M is to be set aside for reserve, and community members have been told that funds can't be used for critical life-saving resources, why is $27M from the GF going to police?
