The proposed hours for amplified music are concerning in a historic residential neighborhood. There also seems to be inadequate parking which would affect the surrounding neighborhood. Before approving their proposal, more neighborhood input should be allowed, The music should at a minimum be kept indoors and not be allowed to carry into the surrounding neighborhoods.
Application says this is a cafe but hours and entertainment seem like a nightclub. There is no demand for midnight- 2am dining in area or existing restaurants would offer it. Even Roosevelt Row breweries are not open so late. Patio can seat 10-15 people max, an outdoor DJ is inappropriate for such a small space. Music will carry for blocks in what is a quiet residential area even in central city. Without sound, hour and parking adjustments this is not appropriate for the area.
I am deeply concerned about the ramifications of having a business like this in a residential neighborhood. The noise from a DJ until 2:00 a.m. will cause great disruption to Residents in the area. Central Avenue is an echo chamber and DJ music will reverberate through the entire neighborhood. Also there is inadequate parking to accommodate a night club/lounge crowd and parking will overflow onto the streets of the neighborhood. This is a residential area and unfit for this type of business.
The noise from the DJ and open patio will disrupt the Ashland Historic Place atmosphere. Families who NEED their sleep will be disturbed! There will be loss of parking space. This business does not have the character appropriate for the neighborhood.
We want to support this new business and see them succeed but we are very concerned about their operating hours. Being open until midnight during the week and 2am on weekends with live music and alcohol could create a lot of noise issues for our Historic Residential Neighborhood. The establishment has close residential on two sides and before this pending application is approved, I strongly believe the operating hours and time restrictions for live music need to be reviewed and revised.
