78 Public Hearing and Ordinance Adoption - Rezoning Application Z-39-23-2 - Southwest Corner of Black Mountain Boulevard and Deer Valley Drive (Ordinance G-7331) - District 2
There is a huge concern about this rezoning: increased traffic, noise, delivery trucks, crime, proximity to the school, security of our neighborhood. The developers try to position this as this really cute little neighborhood shopping center, but it’s clear they want this particular piece of land because of the value…a big draw off of the 51. This is not good for our community. There are plenty of other sites with 5 mile radius already zoned for this type of business.
The primary reason offered for this radical rezoning is an alleged lack of groceries in Desert Ridge. On Nov. 20, the Arizona Republic reported that Crown already has plans to begin construction of a grocery at City North in 2025.
