There has never been before, nor will there ever be again, a kid's program as great as Wallace and Ladmo. Fantastically funny and insightful on so many levels. We are so lucky to have had them in Phoenix for 35 years, and they should be honored forever.
I literally grew up watching Wallace and Ladmo. I am 71 yrs old and they were a highlight from my childhood and also one that my children enjoyed as youngsters. I cried the day Wallace, Bill Thompson, died and even attended his funeral. And I finally got a Ladmo bag. Anywhere I travel and meet someone who used to live in AZ the subject of Wallace and Ladmo comes up. It is a special part of our history that needs to be preserved in some way meaningful. I strongly support this project.
Wallace and Ladmo were such an indelible part of Phoenix history and culture for so long. They had an impact on kids for more than 35 years. They were stewards of kindness and joy for children and adults. To honor them in this way would ensure that their legacy lives on. Please vote to approve this agenda item to preserve this important piece of Phoenix culture.
Our family migrated out west from Buffalo NY to the Valley of The Sun with just a few TV stations. As kids we looked for something that had the usual cartoons, old movie serials etc. Channel 5 we saw 2 guys named Wallace & Ladmo. Back then there was little to do other than read comic books, explore the deserts. It's Wallace? the original title had it all with stage shows, music, skits and more. I expect anyone who drives by this sign will smile remembering a time when life was simpler & happier.
Wallace and Ladmo was a joy for generations of Arizona kids and adults, and after over 70 years it's still a watchword for some of the best comedy, satire, and music our state has ever produced. Beloved by everyone from Steven Spielberg to Steve Allen, Alice Cooper to Weird Al Yankovic, the show was a sensation that reached far beyond our state's borders. This honor would be a point of pride for fans & visitors, boosting the local economy & honoring the surviving cast as well. Vote yes! Thanks!
I am a native of Phoenix and grew up watching Wallace and Ladmo. What a show. It was the highlight of each day. As an adult I entered my 6 year old son in a contest to have a birthday day party with Ladmo. He won! It was held at Smitty’s restaurant. My childhood friend and I were more excited than the kids were. One of my most cherished possessions is a picture of us with Ladmo. I fully support this.
