45 Ordinance Authorizing the Issuance of Obligations for the Acquisition, Construction, Expansion and Improvement of Municipal Facilities and Personal Property (Ordinance S-51810) - Citywide
The Alta Vista Block Watch fully supports Agenda Item #45, Ordinance S-51810. Revitalizing the former Kmart building has already proven beneficial to our area, with a noticeable decrease in crime since the city purchased and gated the property. Additionally, Innovation 27 will redefine the I-17 corridor, and we are confident that our neighborhood will be positively affected by this development. We ask the council to approve this ordinance. Thank You.
As pastor of Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral, I want to give my support to ordinance S-51810 and thank the City of Phoenix for all they are doing to revitalize the I-17 / 27th Avenue corridor. There is so much need for good and positive initiatives in this community. Thank you for passing this ordinance.
The North Glen Square Neighborhood (NGS) Association strongly supports Agenda Item #45 – Ordinance S-518. Located just south of this project, NGS residents have already seen an improvement in safety in this area since the City of Phoenix took over the property, which deterred illicit activity. Innovation 27 and its community partners will draw positive traffic and resources to the area and will serve our residents directly through its educational offerings.
As the V.P.of Community Affairs,Washington Park Neighborhood,we strongly support the improvement of this property, Innovation 27 That vacant property has been a magnet for crime&the homelessness for years. We are so excited to see this developed into an education and workforce campus, bringing education&workforce training to an area where it is strongly needed. This project is going to greatly improve this community, its citizens,&the entire city of Phoenix. This area has been neglected for too long
I strongly support Agenda Item #45 – Ordinance S-5181, especially Innovation 27. As a nearby resident, it’s a relief to see long-overdue investment in the I-17 corridor. This education and workforce campus will bring opportunity, revitalization, and hope to our neighborhood. It’s a smart, community-focused project that supports growth, equity, and a better future for Phoenix. Please approve this important initiative.
Transforming the northwest corner of I-17 and Northern to an academic hub will not only deter crime and homelessness in the area, but also bring life to a long vacant property.Being a non-traditional educational institute will bring a mix of young and not-so-young to the area during the day and evening. It's green landscaping will break up the cement islands and bring an inviting countenance to the area. Coupling a positive destination with the reduced crime effort of 27th Avenue is needed here.

As an individual who support community safety, I commend and support Councilwoman Guardado in her efforts to bring this project to fruition.
