The Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans supports the adoption of the inclusive home design language in the amended building code. With a fast-growing aging population, the inclusive home design is ideal as it provides the features that support mobility and aging in place.

Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) supports adoption of the 2024 Phoenix Building Construction Code due to its inclusion of Appendix NE for new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in one and two-family dwellings and townhouses. Building a home to be EV-ready or capable from the start is more efficient than installation after-the-fact. This additional small step in the construction of a home will pay significant dividends over time as EV's increase in popularity.

Arizona Public Interest Research Group (Arizona PIRG) encourages you to Vote Yes on the Electric Vehicle Building Code portion of the Code Adoption proposal. By voting in favor of the EV Building Code, you will make it more convenient for residents to drive electric, encourage more car owners to consider purchasing an EV (which will also better protect air quality and public health), and help consumers save money by not needing to retrofit their new build to add EV infrastructure.

Western Resource Advocates urges the Council to vote to support the adoption by ordinance of IRC Appendix NE, which is a common sense measure to ensure EV charging can be easily installed in new residential housing. The proposal before you today strikes a balance of equipping new homes with necessary infrastructure for future occupants without adding undue burden.

Hello, I am an EV driver and strongly support the New Build Single Family Electric Vehicle Building Code. This is a no-brainer. Our economy is becoming more and more integrated with electric vehicles and is highly unlikely to stop, even with federal support currently waning. If Phoenix wants to attract its future generation of residents, it needs to start acting now to make way for this transition. With EV adoption soaring, families are increasingly expecting homes they buy to be EV ready.
