I strongly support this resolution. It provides a way for the Phoenix PD to focus on its mission of protecting public safety, and remedy the climate of fear that has been imposed on some pf the most vulnerable members of our community. I want the police to protect and help, not harm people. I don't want the Phoenix PD to carry water for ICE in any way.
I support this resolution. There’s room for everyone in this city (and country) and that’s what makes it great. Let’s give all residents a chance to walk around without fear of harassment due to race, religion or gender.
Extensive reports by non-partisan professional organizations, is clear; policing as it exists today & further extending its role into our communities, is not the answer & never will be. Unfortunate narratives of “safety” & “law and order” (are laced with white-supremacist ideologies & agendas of the rich), were created & are maintained, to strategically keep the oppressed communities of this city & country, under sustained oppression. Keep us all safe - Yes on 153.
I strongly support the “For Thriving Communities” resolution. It promotes safety without criminalizing poverty or race, ends harmful policing practices, and increases transparency and accountability. The DOJ's findings confirm a pattern of abuse that must be addressed. This resolution is a smart, just, and necessary step toward equitable public safety. Please adopt it without delay to protect all Phoenix residents.
Vote YES on item 153, a Resolution for Thriving Communities. As "public servants," you should be doing everything in your power to keep our neighbors safe from racial profiling, deportation, and incarceration. Invest in things that will actually keep us safe: affordable housing, protection from extreme heat (especially unhoused folks), free transportation services, among others. Listen to the community (especially most marginalized) & to folks who have a different lived experience than you.

People talking about accountability for police yet fail to focus on accountability and personal responsibility for civilians to follow traffic laws and city ordinances. PHX PD has adopted continuous improvement and neutering them should not be a part of it. The purpose of this petition is simply to use race as a wedge to disrupt and weaken our police department from keeping PHX safe and protecting our quality of life. I ask our city council to use common sense and sound judgement vs emotions.
I urge council to vote YES on item 153, a Resolution for Thriving Communities! In most Phoenix city council meetings, the people meant to be represented by this council have to hear how some council members disparage their own personal lived experiences of harm that happens by the Phoenix Police Department. It is unacceptable to think that someone must experience injustice to believe it happens. Listen to the community, because that is where care through change can happen.
As a third generation Arizonan, as well as Phoenix homeowner, tax payer, and voter, I support this petition. It will help make our local law enforcement and justice systems more fair and efficient, and allow our officers to focus on things that actually make us all safer.
Thank you.
I strongly oppose proposed changes implementing cite-and-release for non-violent offenses, as it weakens public safety and accountability. These policies permit quality-of-life offenses, discouraging residents from using public spaces. Public areas need regulation for safety and cleanliness. Restricting police General Fund use limits cooperation on safety issues, eroding trust. Reject these changes. Prioritize policies ensuring public safety, health, and community well-being.
This petition hides behind PODER in ACTION, an anti-police, political action group. The City Manager’s Office recommends the petition be denied. PIA’s web site supports a MISSION to “disrupt & dismantle systems of oppression”. Their VISION states “policing & punishment are unnecessary, obsolete, & unimaginable”. PIA wants to dismantle School Resource Officers, which are supported by school staff, parents, & students. A goal is to disrupt ICE activities, putting all participants in harm’s way.
It’s time to rectify the damage Phoenix pd has been enacting in our communities for years. This resolution will at least begin that process. Please vote yes for our collective future.
It's quite sad people have to work so hard to compel otherwise intelligent people that, maybe, it's a terrible idea to allow your brutal police force to racially profile people in Phoenix. I know there's no reasoning with most of you, so I'll just write into record that you should all vote YES in support of the Resolution for Thriving Communities. Thank you to the mighty community at Poder for continuing to hold you accountable in hopes you will stop being racist for one second of your life.

Please vote yes on item 153 to protect our local neighborhoods. No more racial profiling, no more deportations, and no more mass incarcerations.
Please support the resolution for thriving communities- our neighbors deserve to feel safe and protected.

Thank you.
This petition is designed to help protect ALL members of the community against racial profiling, mass deportations and mass incarceration.
This will ban racist pretextual stops, ends arrest quotas and requires citations over arrests.
Some of the folks here in the comments section will lie about this petition in an attempt to uphold the fascist agenda of the current administration.
We DEMAND that you fight with us and pass the Resolution for Thriving Communities.
Remember, you work for us.
