I demand that the Phoenix City Council allocate $3 million to the Office of Accountability and Transparency and Civilian Review Board in the 2020 - 2021 budget.
I support increasing our "Public Safety" funding; compared to other major cities Phoenix is very underfunded which causes many of the policing problems (too many hours, stress leading to bad confrontations).
I am an Arizona resident and urging you to reconsider the proposed funds allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community instead of more police equipment and budget.

I am a citizen of Phoenix and educator. I oppose an increase to $944,680,555 for "Public Safety" and want the city to reduce funding for the police while requiring reforms of police recruitment/training protocols to include anti-bias training, de-escalation tactics, and strategies for community engagement and communication. Shift allocation of funds to Community Development & Community Enrichment for social services & youth programs that are more effective for ensuring community safety.
I am a Phoenix citizen, a graduate of ASU's criminal justice program, and a former Phoenix PD employee. I OPPOSE the City of Phoenix giving Phoenix PD any further funding; instead, please apply those funds to a Civilian Review Board and/or social programs that will naturally help to reduce crime.
We need change, we need resources. We do not need those resouces to come from the police. Phoenix consistuents have been terrorized and murdered by police. There is a large population, especially our black and brown constituents, who know they cannot find safety and justice from police. To have an impact these funds are designed to give they need to be redirected to places we can trust. Increase the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment.
Please pass the budget. Until you are a victim of a crime, you will NEVER understand what it is like to have no one to help you. Police need the funds to have the proper training and tools to keep communities safe. They need proper staffing as well. Take away the police, limit their funds, tie their hands, you will have anarchy from civilians. They will know, no consequence. I hope each of you council members become victims of a crime, then maybe you will understand why funds are so needed

Spending this much money on police when we have overcrowded classrooms, overextended and underfunded teachers and social workers, and so many people who are food insecure and out of work is obscene. There have been so many studies that show that increased spending on social programs and community care and decreased funding for police actually DECREASES crime. Phoenix is a forward thinking city. Please reject the pressure to conform to an existing system and vote against. We can do better.
Now more than ever, we need to invest in worthwhile social programs, not further policing, which has led to the unrest the whole country (Phoenix included) is now experiencing.
As for the presented budget, it looks good to me. I see funding for parks, libraries, LED Streetlight Conversion, Police, Fire, Block Watch Operations, transit and streets, and Human and Neighborhood Services. There's even funding for arts and culture.

I urge you not to allocate the proposed money to the Phoenix police dept. Although i respect the law enforcement community I also believe that money should be given to community health and services depts instead. Giving more money to a flawed and dangerous police dept such as the Phoenix PD before new methods, policies and training concerning race and mental health confrontations are improved, only creates more fear, distrust and frustration among the citizens.
Please don't table this issue.
Phoenix PD is one of the deadliest of the nation. I strongly oppose disproportionately funding the police department over the people. Invest in our communities instead, I demand that the Phoenix City Council fully funds CRB and OAT. We deserve more of the budget allocated towards housing, education and PUBLIC HEALTH. Reminder that we are still in a pandemic and our hospitals do not have the supplies needed to stay safe and secure.

I am an AZ resident demanding the defunding of one of the most deadly police forces in this county, the Phoenix Police Department.

I am in support of increased funding of the OAT/CRB. Please delegate finds to fully support this. We have it
