I demand that the Phoenix City Council fully funds OAT and CRB with $3 million.

$400,000 is not enough resources for OAT to guarantee full oversight over a $721 million dollar police department. City Council needs to give the community the civilian oversight power we were promised!

Ending police brutality should be a budget priority. Justice should be a budget priority. Without oversight, there will be no consequences.

Public safety is important. However, the difference of funds to be allocated between public safety and community development and enrichment shows a blatant disregard for the community and it's development. With Arizona becoming one of the fastest growing states in the country, public safety won't provide new citizens housing or proper work environments. I strongly urge you to reconsider the amount of funds being allocated and focus on the community and it's citizens. Thank you for your time.

I strongly urge you to redirect the budget allocation and not contribute this staggering amount of the Phoenix PD. They receive a disproportionate chunk of the budget already and are one of the most dangerous police departments in our country. Instead, we need to spend that money on community enrichment, public health, schools, and housing.

The Phoenix Police Department is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Police forces across the country have proven that diversifying and implementing various training have not and will not end police brutality. The City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Re police budget: $5M for addtl cameras & staff to manage the footage is reactive. What is the plan for proactive action to head off the violent incidents and abuses of power? Invest in the community and the need for policing declines. Reduce the power of police unions and put it in the hands of a citizen review board. The people should not be giving more money to the police while we need protecting FROM them.

Please do not give anymore money to the police. They are a waste of time and space. Especially right now.

I fully support the Phoenix PD. Families of policemen and the officers themselves sacrifice much to provide a safe and fair atmosphere for taxpayers.

Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create a safe community. Increase the proposed budgets for Community Development and Community Enrichment. Phoenix Police is statistically ranked highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. City of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health/trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

These funds could be used instead to bolster much needed mental heath and trauma services, help our funding-starved public education system, provide heath care and housing costs, employment services, and much needed Covid19 testing. The police have demonstrated that they incapable of protecting ALL citizens and have a repeated history of using unjust and lethal violence against black and brown communities and individuals. As such, they fail to serve our community and do not deserve this funding.

I am Haylee Stanage from Maricopa County in Arizona. I am a taxpayer, urging you to DEFUND THE PHOENIX POLICE DEPARTMENT, the most lethal police department in the nation, in tomorrows budget vote. Release body camera footage of Dion Johnsons murder and arrest the officers involved. DIVEST FROM ICE. DIVEST FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT. Do not continue to allow the police to arrest peaceful protesters.

I oppose this years fiscal budget because i do not believe the phx police deserve an annual increase of $150k. As the recent protests will bring to light, the police need to be held accountable by fiscally reducing their annual operations budget subsidized by the city.

As a city resident, I ask the Council to protect our citizens of color by passing a budget that funds transparency and accountability for our police. I feel indebted to police who do their best to avoid racial injustice. But, as we have observed in Phoenix and across the nation, the current system consistently protects white people like me, while leaving black and brown people vulnerable to police abuse. My religious values leave me deeply disturbed by the current abuse of human life.
