Members of the council- I strongly oppose Ordinance S-46741, and I will not support it until the budget defunds the police and allocates more funds to programs that heal and educate our community, like healthcare, after-school programs, affordable housing and mental health/trauma services. Police murdering civilians does not create anything except terror, and I am sick and tired of seeing my city at the top of the list of deaths caused by police. It is time to try something new with our taxes!
The budget for the police should not be increased until they submit a comprehensive plan to fix the systemic problems that have resulted from a culture of militarization and of protecting rather than holding accountable the officers who fail to perform their duties with integrity and honor. Leadership that enables them must be removed. It is irresponsible to fund the problem rather than fix it.
City council members, I urge you to defund Phoenix PD. Police forces have proven that implementing new trainings will not end police brutality.
The city of Phoenix needs and deserves policing alternatives and investments in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safe community.
I strongly oppose Ordinance S-46741. Defund the Phoenix Police Department and use our taxpayer dollars for community enrichment and community development. Phoenix PD is statistically ranked as one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Our community deserves investment in mental health services, education, after school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities. The demands of the people need to be met!
I strongly oppose Ordinance S-46741, the Adoption of the Final 2020-21 Capital Funds Budget. Defund the Phoenix PD and reallocate our taxpayer dollars to community development, and community enrichment policies and programs. The Phoenix PD is statistically ranked as one of the highest in the country for cases of police killing civilians. Our community deserves investment in mental health services, education, after school care, adequate housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Defund the police and send funds to where we need it: community services, social workers and mental health resources.
