It is beyond reprehensible that the name hasn't been changed already. The indecency of it is without question. It's time to finally find a moral center and change the name to stop the harm it causes.

I am opposed to changing street name. IF COUNCIL MOVES FORWARD with a change, please note: THE RENAMING POLICY CLEARLY STATES “THE NAME CANNOT BE USED ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE PHOENIX METROPOLITAN AREA”. It does not distinguish between freeways and streets, so “Piestewa” is NOT eligible for the street name. The Piestewa Freeway is just blocks away. If council proceeds with that name, you are again ignoring your own city policy to meet your political whims. Let street's homeowners choose.

The very very least we can do is to change this disrespectful and offensive street name.

I'm in complete support of changing this offensive and harmful street name. We cannot allow degradation and disrespect to continue. Honor the missing and murdered indigenous women by changing the name as soon as possible.

I strongly support the street renaming. I think it is the healthy thing to do for our community. I live within a mile of the street. The time to change the name of this street is late, but this is an opportunity to take a street with a derogatory name and turn it into a point of pride for our city and visitors--and our children who will be here in this valley long after we are all gone.

I believe that the change in name is a necessary step to take to show support to those most offended by the flippant use of a term that is derogatory to a culture that thrived in this area prior to the creation of this metropolitan city. Just because the name was present at the time someone purchased property in this area, doesn't change what the name represents. Yes, it will be inconvenient to change signs on a street or notify people of an address change, but it is a necessary step to take.

I do not support the proposal to have a new extended process of mailing a certified ranking survey limited to the homeowners on S**** Peak Drive. After 2 months of testimony, certified letters to the 20 homeowners, signs, multiple opportunities and ways to comment, and the participation of the homeowners in all 3 public hearings held specifically to decide on the street name change, it is time to take a vote.

I think you should listen to the residents of Squaw Peak Drive, who most seem to oppose the name change. For those living on the street that are in favor of the name change, I would ask why they would have purchased a home on a street with an offensive name.

I adamantly appose this change. A small number of activists are attempting to Gas Light the City of Phx by shaming them into accepting this change. It is wrong for residents of Phoenix & wrong for residents of Squaw Peak Dr. City staff says the change will be easy & inexpensive. The 12 single spaced pages in this agenda describing the steps do not look easy. There is no mention of manpower costs to the city, county & state to effect this change or the time effort & energy for affected residents.
