As written, this policy change fails to address several issues that the community has been asking for. Throughout the legislative text, I do not see anything in regards to who will govern and address when an officer violates these policies? How are officers actually being held accountable?
The text also states that, "notification of this policy change was submitted to all employees via email and video messaging from the police chief". Is that it? A simple email? Surely more can be done here.
I support the Phoenix police using less excessive force. No chokeholds, no kneeling on people being arrested. Not murdering civilians like Dion Johnson and regular traffic stops or incidents. Not VIOLENTLY arresting & detaining civilians who they claim are resisting because the police officers are just afraid. Our police are completely out of control & abusing their power at most opportunities they get. They are intimidating the civilians of their communities & very under trained. We need change
