Affordable housing will keep the neighborhood, a neighborhood. Phoenix has and will continue to grow. Adding single family homes is a way to grow without breaking our Arizona skylines and give working families and children a safe place to live. Change can be hard for folks. The familiar dirt patch becoming a part of the neighborhood will be different; but I see many canned responses that fear change, not these houses. Let the families that join the neighborhood show them this change was good.

I support this rezoning application. Improving the existing empty dirt lot by allowing for affordable single family homes is a welcome change. All too often we see high density multistory apartment complexes as the only affordable option for families looking for a place to call home. This is a timely project as Arizona is dealing with a massive shortage of housing inventory. As a third generation Arizonan, I enjoy seeing projects that will beautify our city while fulfilling a practical need.

Completely support. Affordable rental housing is increasingly necessary and welcoming new neighbors to the community is a plus. I also appreciate that this particular development includes a good amount of open space, flowers, and trees... as this has been an unused dirt lot for many years. Put this land to good use!

Support. This development is the best possible use of this space to create single family homes. The opposition of housing development in our state during a time where we have a shortage of affordable housing would be wrong. We NEED more housing, support!

I support this agenda item. We need to move past the baseless and prejudicial claim that affordable rental housing will bring unsafe conditions and crime to our community. The claim is not true. Phoenix is a place for opportunity for all, whether you rent or own. Single family rentals will bring more people to a growing community, and is the highest value option for this land. Building a community starts with welcoming new members. They can build something now instead of leaving the land unused.

I urge the council to deny the PUD. This property is not the right spot for this proposal and the neighbors do not want it. High density brings increased crime and traffic. Those that benefit are the ones who will make a profit at the surrounding property owner's expense.
The excessive high density building around South Mountain needs to stop and the council should be wary of how it turns into run down areas quickly. The neighbors care and want to protect their homes. Can you blame them?

Deny the PUD. Keep the parcels separate and upgrade to the existing Zoning

North Parcel - Rezone to a clean C-2 BAOD MUA. Drop all the stipulations and legally on the C-2 parcel such that it can be developed unencumbered moving forward. Not to exceed 126 total units. GPA change to Commercial MUA.
South Parcel - Rezone from S-1 to R1-18 BAOD MUA. This would is upgrade to the land from 1 du/acre to 2.34 du/acre. Not to exceed 24 total units. GPA change to 2-3.5 du/acre-Traditional Lot MUA.

I am a resident property owner of Bartlett heard ranch. I am requesting a denial or a continuance on items 71 of the formal meeting at 2:30 PM on May 5. I am opposed because of the traffic and congestion and unsafe conditions that this project will create at the intersection in 40th Southern.

Without significant reductions to the density on the proposed plan, it does not belong to the MUA piece of land on SW side of southern and 40th st. This plan is better suited for an urban city cneter. This project if allowed will not be fair to existing flora, awna and community that were hear first.
