126 (CONTINUED FROM JULY 1, AUG. 26, AND OCT. 7, 2020, AND APRIL 7, 2021) - Public Hearing and Ordinance Adoption - Amend City Code - Rezoning Application PHO-1-19--Z-165-06-7(8) - Northwest Corner of 35th Avenue and Carver Road (Ordinance G-6718)

"The area around the Carver Foothills and extending to South Mountain Park has a Sonoran Desert character…The desert and the agricultural properties define the open, rural feeling of the Laveen area."
This is what we are striving to PRESERVE! Deny PHO-1-19--Z-165-06-7(8).
The south side of Carver Mtn remains one of the last quiet, peaceful, relatively safe places left in Laveen. The applicant wants 3 du/a but the neighbors want to keep the same zoning that the surrounding area has. This should not be allowed to pass. We oppose PHO-1-19-Z-165-06-7(8) and it should be denied based on the high density AND on the fact that the zoning should have been reverted 10+ yrs ago but no action has ever been taken by the City Council, as required by their own rules.
I live on Carver. This is a total train wreck for a small community of narrow roads, dirt roads, farm fields, animal lovers and an air strip. This is not wanted or really even feasible for the area.
During the June 2 Council meeting, you will be hearing two separate cases which are located at the NWC of 35th Avenue and Carver Road, in Laveen. I respectfully request that you support the community, LVPC, LCRD and Vice Mayor Garcia with these cases.
REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION
I Request that you DENY Item 126: PHO-1-19-Z-165-06-7(8)
Same as Agenda Item 125...this whole thing shouldn't even exist. Per a prior zoning, they had a set period of time to be able to utilize that zoning and they did not before the time allotment elapsed. This should all have reverted back. All of this dragging on and on and meetings and all that shouldn't have even happened. This should have been thrown out over a year ago. Apparently the rules don't apply to some people.
This area is ENTIRELY 1 house per acre and we need to KEEP IT THAT WAY.
I too request that you deny PHO-1-19-Z-165-06-7(8). I have lived in Laveen over 22 years. I fully support the Laveen Village Planning committees recommendation. You have already seen and heard the communitys support for the planning committees action request. Do the right thing here for your constituants.
Thank you
