There is no reason for the police to need access to this database. In a time of sickening brutality, the Phoenix Police Department can’t be trusted to handle the homeless. This would criminalize homelessness.

The police do not need access to the homeless shelter bed database (i.e. HMIS). We need compassion in dealing with the homeless, FUND dedicated outreach teams. People, when there is no alternative, have to sit out in this miserable heat. Do not criminalize the homeless.

This should be funded completely and include NO PD access. In addition, there should be an additional vote to increase shelter beds. Finally, only certified trauma-informed care workers should be responding to calls for homeless individuals.

I am opposed to this request because it would increase the criminalization of homelessness in Arizona. It should not be a crime to be homeless or impoverished - fines and jail time only continue the cycle, rather than finding a solution.

We demand 100% funded provider portal with no PD access, immediately schedule a vote to increase shelter beds, and allow only certified trauma informed care workers to respond to calls involving homelessness.

Portal should be available to providers only, not to police, secondly, there needs to be an increase in shelter beds which should be handled by City Council first, and lastly, only trained trauma informed care workers should be responding to calls for homelessness, as seen by the history of police interactions with folks that are homeless.

This would only contribute further to the criminalization of homelessness. Unsheltered people need PROTECTION not fines or jail time. We demand 100% funded provider portal with no PD access, immediately schedule a vote to increase shelter beds, and allow only certified trauma informed care workers to respond to calls involving homelessness.

We need to protect and support unsheltered people. By creating a portal that only phx PD has access to puts them at serious danger for fines they can’t pay, arrest and no way of paying the bail, and further trauma that is unwarranted. This is a waste of our money. We are demanding a provider portal funded 100% w/ no PD access; immediate scheduled vote to increase shelter beds; only certified trauma informed care workers responding to calls involving homelessness.

There needs to be transparency in this database process, first and foremost the City needs to schedule a vote to increase shelter beds ASAP. Secondly, Police should not be responding to issues of homeless peoples, rather a trained trauma careworker, who is better adept at handling the situation. Thirdly the database should not be available solely to the police there is already too little oversight when it comes to the Phoenix Police department. Homelessness should not be criminalized.

Creating a portal that allows the public and organizations that actually need the information of how many shelter beds are available is great. What's unacceptable and shady is making that portal only visible to Phoenix PD (or visible to them at all). We see you! You're doing your best to criminalize the homeless population and it's inhumane. Don't give PPD any more money. It's unacceptable. Give funding to organizations you claim to work with on addressing actual care for homeless people.

We don't need to spend 200,00$ for the police to use to criminalize the houseless population. These funds can be going to affordable housing and services for the community. The police don't need more money and resources given to them. We need social workers and crisis manager responding to the needs in the community NOT the police.
