i support the proposed MOU supporting the Phoenix Police Dept. A small number of people are against this. they all write the exact same comments. The huge majority of citizens of phoenix support this budget. Please council members remember that you represent the entire city of phoenix, not just one small portion. Please listen to the MAJORITY!!

We should not be throwing more money at PLEA. Some of these modifications like removing public warning language and not using vacation time for suspensions should already be implemented. It's absurd that they want more money for this. These "reforms" are performative at best, but in reality this memorandum is harmful. Time and time again, we see that increased police funding does not improve the material conditions for Black and brown people.

Council, who are you representing exactly? Based on your actions to date, it must be comfortable complacent white folks, who will never be harmed by police, and apparently don’t think there is a problem at all. But they don’t need you! Police DEFINITELY don’t need your protection. But people being targeted, harassed, and killed by police need your representation. Do your job. Speak up! Take action on behalf of those who are actually impacted by these “union” agreements. Quit failing us. Vote no.

Outrageous that PPD gets more money to sign off on a handful of pathetic changes playing at transparency and accountability. Their budget is $745+ million. No matter how much money you give them, they will never come close to being transparent or accountable for anything. You want us to believe that accountability looks like retaining a few types of discipline records, and not directly threatening residents who file a complaint about a cop? You are PAYING them for agreeing to THAT?

Vote NO on this MOU!! How can you seriously show up here today and think this is ok? Your lack of regard for Black lives is reprehensible. Vote NO on this absurd MOU. The only acceptable vote is NO. Do not support and condone the police unions. They protect paid murderers. Only in the delusion of white supremacy are the cops the good guys. You all are very late to realize this. It’s embarrassing and deadly. Please get on the right side of history and VOTE NO. #DefundPhxPD #CouncilStaysFailing

I support this MOU and the changes outlined in the agenda item. Anything that serves to reduce or disincentivize police protection ultimately hurts the most vulnerable in our population. Making the pay less competitive and the working conditions worse will only serve to attract less desirable employees because they will be the only ones who think it worth it to put up with the kind of abuse our police have been getting. Please support this MOU.

How can you seriously show up here today and think this is ok? There is ample evidence proving gross misconduct of PPD and yet you all sit here and do nothing. Really how is that? How do you think this is acceptable? You are not doing your job! You are protecting and defending white supremacy, not the people. How many times do we have to prove PPD can’t be trusted with any of the money you keep throwing at them? They already have 745 million in funds. #DefundPhxPD #CouncilStaysFailing

How dare you continue this charade and ignore reality. Everything you do is meaningless. PEOPLE ARE DYING AND YOUR PPD ARE THE PAID ASSASSINS. It is literally your job to champion the needs and demands of the people. Black leadership demands meaningful action. You insist we use respectful language and you have NO respect or regard for Black lives. Your priorities are sickening! If you shirk your duties you don’t deserve your job! Every last one of you has to go! #DefundPhxPD #CouncilStaysFailing

Please explain why PPD gets more money to sign off on a handful of pointless changes playing at transparency and accountability. Their budget is over $745 million and they have show time and time again that they will not be held accountable for murdering, harassing, and torturing black, brown, and unhoused people. Accountability is not retaining a few types of discipline records while police continue to retaliate against citizens who criticize them.
    Please vote against this MOU.
