first, this MOU implies that the reason phoenix PD isn't good at its job is because it is underfunded. The fact of the matter is this MOU forces the city to fork over HALF of it's public money without any promise of oversight or a process to fight lawlessness within the very department we trust to uphold the law. We know they can't be trusted to file charges honestly or police peacefully, so what are we paying for. No to any MOU that doesn't recognize the need to decrease funding for the police

City Council, the community has been speaking out clearly against the violence and harm that PPD inflicts on Black, brown, indigenous, and poor people. Yet these cries remain unanswered. Why? The only possible reason that you would vote yes on this MOU is if upholding systemic racism and supporting killer cops is your top priority. It is YOUR JOB to work on behalf of your constituent's needs. But, you sit there week after week and do nothing to save lives and stop the cycle. We see you.

Vote NO. Police are already the most heavily protected group of people in the country. They can literally kill anyone they want, whenever they want, and never face any consequences. Police are the militarized arm of the state, completely unreachable by any legal system of accountability. Unless you are utterly soulless, there is no way you can vote to give them even more protection and still sleep tonight. You have the power to begin dismantling this system, starting with this vote. Vote NO.

Of all the unions to be offered answers and support, PD unions are not under represented or under resourced.
If you would divert your energies into supporting working families and the various labor unions for living wages, safe scheduling practices, and proper health coverage, you’d reduce more crime than what you’d get investing more energy and resources into this MOU.
The solutions are here, it’s not police oversight of police, militarism, and training people for violence with violence.

"Investigation by Professional Standards Bureau, any Police Department supervisor, or other City employee who is conducting an investigatory interview". "Other City Employee" means anyone hired or appointed by the City Manager. Thus, any one in the office of the OAT. Must be preserved! (Section 1-4: Rights of Unit Members - B.1., 4.)

Vote NO on this MOU!! How can you seriously show up here today and think this is ok? Your lack of regard for Black lives is reprehensible. Vote NO. The only acceptable vote is NO. Do not support and condone these police unions. They protect paid murderers. Only in the delusion of white supremacy are the cops the good guys. You all are very late to realize this. It’s embarrassing and deadly. VOTE NO. #DefundPhxPD #CouncilStaysFailing

What is an executive cop? Is this a business or a public service? This whole contract is thousands and millioning away money from the community while completely side-stepping accountability in the multiple investigations and lawsuits against PPD.

The city council must do what’s best for the people and vote NO on the MOU. To do otherwise will be a slap in the face to the people of Phoenix, particularly the victims and families who have suffered because of the violent, white supremacist PPD. It is our money and our safety on the line, but the council did not guarantee the public full access to labor negotiation meetings. The council must vote NO on the MOU.

Giving phoenix police pay raises is rewarding them for a year of national embarrassment, endless scandals, and anti-Black violence. They killed our neighbors, had white supremacists within their ranks exposed, and colluded with the county attorney to prosecute protesters. A vote in favor of this budget is a vote for white supremacy.

Please vote no on this agenda item. It would extremely uplifting to see our city council members begin to advocate to keep ALL people in our communities safe and stop worrying about pleasing the police union. Giving police more resources that will result in supporting harm to our Black and brown loved ones is not creating positive change. Please be a force of positive change and vote NO on agenda item 42.

VOTE NO. Phoenix PD has already been exposed as one of the deadliest forces in our country. They do NOT deserve more money from COVID relief to pay for bonuses! That relief money should be going to the most heavily impacted residents of Phoenix! Black, Indigenous, and our unhoused neighbors are the most affected by Phoenix PDs violence and by COVID-19, yet continue to receive the least amount of support. This relief aid should be distributed amongst the most marginalized- NOT COPS. VOTE NO.

The continued lack of transparency and public involvement is no longer tolerable. Your agenda items are not civic minded and have no compromise for the tax payers. The money slated is only to benefit the police with no regard to policy and needs of the community. The blatant disregard for public demand and outcry for equitable ideas and redistribution of funds is shameful and deceitful. The biggest insult is the appearance that you believe we do not have a “say” I highly OPPOSE this agenda item

Don't give PPD more money. They waste it on bringing false charges against citizens invoking their Constitutional rights and militarizing themselves against citizens. It is clear by Williams seeing the neo-nazi coins and doing nothing that PPD cannot oversee themselves. They do not keep our community safe.
