Our police need help! My family fully supports Agenda Item 83 to allow drones to be included in the tools available to Phoenix police. Due to a large decrease in the number of officers and an increase in crime, we need to equip our police with whatever tools we can to do their jobs and keep our city safe.

I fully support integrating technologies into the operations of our Police Department. Efficient use of resources. This initiative is timely and will be better for the safety of our communities.

I support the proposal to provide drones for the police department. Their job is to protect the citizens and we should be fully supporting them in their requests to protect our community.

It is critical to support this proposed ordinance. The city council's priority is the safety of the public. PHX PD needs all resources available to assist in keeping the public safe. Let's stop giving criminals more civil liberties than the law abiding public. By not supporting this, a clear message is sent to the public that you DON'T support our police dept.

Please approve & expedite! We need all the help we can get now with lack of officers. Fact is, we borrow from other cities, so it's not whether we use it or not. It's having one at our fingertips when we need it. These times are scary for us. 5 officers shot & another 4 hit by shrapnel at 51st & Broadway. A drone likely would have given insight for a better outcome. Safety means somethingthing. Let's give PD a tool that can assist. You all have the opportunity to make Phoenix better. Vote yes!

As a member of the Violence Impact Project Coalition leadership team, we support this plan for the same reasons we support the Community Safety Plan for 27th Ave. Our communities are being severely impacted by the drugs and related crimes. We don't have enough police resources and we need to find ways to improve the efficiency of policing while keeping our officers safe. This plan will help to do that, and we urge you to approve this plan.

I 100% support this proposal. It is time for the city and each of you elected to represent your district's, to get behind our brave men and women who serve it. The assaults and deaths of our officers has gotten completely out of hand. These people go to a job each and every day, not knowing if they will return at night. The absolute least this city can do is provide them with the necessary equipment to mitigate situations with the propensity to turn violent. Enough already. Get it done!

Fully support this proposal for a number of reasons:
Assualts on police and the community has only increased
Drones are a force multiplier ie 1 drone can survey what 4-6 officers can when searching for a suspect
Drone have cameras - policy wise, have them record everytime the are launched if you are concerned about a surveillance state
Because they have cameras, officers can be advised if the person has a weapon, this may / could reduce deadle encounters.
Drones are not silent, they make a sound

As a resident of the City of Phoenix, I fully support the purchase of drones for our Police Department. In an age of advanced technological abilities, our officers should have access to the latest technology devices the city can support. Keeping both our officers safe as well as citizens, I urge each of you to vote YES! Policies and procedures can be put in place, but the purchase of this MUST come first. Our officers are deserved this!

Our neighborhood has been challenging as drug activity continues to exist within the area of 19th avenue and Glendale Avenue. The greater need for appropriate resources is now more imperative for our police force. Our neighborhoods are exposed to hazardous drug paraphernalia, hazardous waste and places where potential fugitives hide out. Having drones to investigate criminal activity would be beneficial.

I oppose the purchase of drones. There are no clear protections in place in relation to this surveillance. Having a drone didn't prevent deaths or overzealous officers being injured during the recent domestic incident turned shootout when they borrowed the technology.. I'd imagine there are far better uses of city funds. There's already so much surveillance, it's like we're trying to turn into China. The police could stand more sensitivity training before investing in more toys for overreach.

This will make our communities less safer and target POC members who the police see as danger. Also it goes against our 4th ammunition rights and our freedom of speech. This is not what our community needs.

Anything we can do to support our PD especially in these times of staffing shortages I am in support of. Granted there needs to be precautions to prevent misuse and privacy breaches but technology can be beneficial not only to the officers but also the residents..

I do not support the purchase of drones for the Phoenix PD. Our police department is already under investigation by the DOJ for civil rights violations, discriminatory practices, and other abuses routinely deployed on our community. The purchase of drones would only add to the means & methods the police can use to surveil and harass citizens. Without defined protections for the people, the purchase of drones cannot be supported.

I 100% support the use of drones. City Council and Mayor have one major purpose and this is to protect people and property. We are the fifth largest city. We have the resources to buy drones and technology to protect our citizens and our police. Last Friday the WHOLE NATION witnessed the ambush of nine of our police officers. We are the LAUGHING STOCK of the nation by not owning equipment to protect our police and citizens. What is the COP doing to PROTECT our POLICE?

It is the duty of the City Council to protect our officers and citizens. Drone technology in law enforcement saves lives. After last week, this should be a no brainer. If you are a city council person who is worried about the liability of drones, think about the liability of not having drones. There will come a day when the City of Phoenix can't barrow the City of Glendale's drone in a crisis situation where the drone could be the difference between life and death.

Please approve and expedite this agenda item to support our Officers. This can be used in all City departments to protect the precious resource of our people. The Ambush could have been stopped faster with the use of this technology already in place in many communities.

Let's not let Phoenix be last in technology again. Anything that can keep an officer safe while performing their job should be of utmost priority. It is embarrassing we don't have one already.

I FULLY support the use of drones! PHX is the 5th LARGEST CITY IN THE US!! We need to USE TECHNOLOGY for the safety of our citizens and our Police Force. If last week wasn't a wakeup call with 9 OFFFICERS INJURED, I don't know what is!! It is the year 2022, and we are WELL OVERDUE to start implementing tech for safety & efficiency! We are short 100's of Officers in PHX! Drones are for use in INCIDENTS & not surveillance. If people don't have anything to hide, they will want this!
