I do not support the purchase of drones as there are no defined protections and this will just be another toy used by our police to harass its citizens. I was at protests last year and felt the eye of drones watching us even then. This technology will only be used to suppress the populace and harass all in the hands of police.
I do not support the purchase of drones because there are no defined protections for citizens against surveillance by the police, especially during protests and large events.
The primary purpose of city government is to protect people and property within its geographical territory. There is no reason not to obtain this technology needed to protect the police and firefighters so that the City of Phoenix doesn’t have to depend on neighboring cities who do recognize the importance of public safety to borrow this equipment. Just last week the City Of Phoenix had to rely on the foresight of the City of Glendale to get drones in the incident where 9 police were injured
i fully support the purchase of the drones. They will be used during high risk tactical incidents. Officers need real time intelligence to have a positive outcome and to keep officers safe. I find it embarrassing that we had to borrow a drone during the incident where 9 officers were shot. The council people who do not vote for this are showing their lack of support for our officers and the safety of the citizens of Phoenix..
I fully support this item. Not only is it safer for the police but can also save on fuel and maintenance of police vehicles. It will keep them out of harms way in many cases and that is always a good thing. Crime is up and this will help.

I am fully supportive of this item. A drone program will be a valuable addition to the Phoenix PD toolbox - harnessing advanced technology will improve public safety and investigations and make more efficient use of increasingly tight police resources. One of the most important benefits is they can be used for de-escalation communications with suspects in highly charged active situations, minimizing confrontations and physical injury or death to officers and civilians.
Drone use is an important aspect of so many industries today. They inspect railroad track, cell towers, and are in use in environments where harm could possibly come to persons placed in position of vulnerability. I can think of no better use of our City budget than to procure drones for use by our Police Department. No telling how many officers will be spared injury or death investigating active situations where suspects don't think twice before pulling the trigger. I fully support this.
