There is NO reason our city should not have more light rail as it continues to expand. Without a plan for the future and growth, we will be forever sitting in traffic and construction traffic for more and slower roads.

Extending the light rail will be good for cutting emissions, as it can be more convenient to not have to drive everywhere. Not only that, it gives people who don't own a car a cost-effective way to travel around the valley.

I am in support of expanding the light rail into West Phoenix. We the voters passed to have this and now the City of Phoenix is trying to change a valuable assest for the communities of West Phoenix. Having a reliable and safe mode of transportation is essential to the residents in West Phoenix. Please vote to expand the light rail into West Phoenix.

In support of further light rail extensions. We need more options for travel here and will help out many commuters in the valley. Congestion won’t get worse and will help out people who take the bus to get out of it if they can.

The congestion isnt getting any lighter and the only way to ease it is viable alternatives. As someone who uses the light rail to get all the way from Tempe to Glendale, its the only option I have to viably visit family while I attend classes. Think about the elderly and handicapped who cant drive or use micro mobility. We've seen this before with other states, not taking advantage of federal grants always leads to stagnation, take advantage of it please!

I support Option 1: continue the CAPEX and I-10 West projects. The City’s transit system plays a critical role in improving mobility and access by connecting residents to employment, education, healthcare, and entertainment. Investments in transit have delivered economic, environmental, and community benefits. Expanded transit service reduces traffic congestion, improves air quality, enhances transportation equity, and provides reliable mobility options that support sustainable growth.

I’ve been living in Phoenix for the past 7 years. The lack of public options transportation is a problem. I believe the expansion would help those in our community that do not or cannot drive, but also those visiting our city by giving them alternative transportation options that are not rideshare apps. Making our city more accessible for everyone in our communities would only benefit our city. I am in support of the expansion west on the preferred local path over the I-10 route.

The extension must not be delayed. Residents have waited decades for these projects, voters have approved these projects for decades, please press forward. The economic benefits of fixed-rail are undeniable - both for small businesses and working families. Families can save thousands on car notes, car insurance, and gas by switching to transit - but they need more options as destinations! I’m not a Phoenix resident, but the light rail is always brining me into PHX where I support businesses.

This extension will provide faster, more reliable service to thousands of residents who depend on public transportation to reach jobs, healthcare, and education. Light rail will improve connectivity to major employment centers including the State Capitol complex, downtown Phoenix, and Sky Harbor Airport—benefiting residents, employees, visitors, and the broader regional economy. I urge you to move forward with this essential project - this is what voters want.

I am urging the City Council’s approval of the Capital Extension because it will improve access to transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and have a positive environmental impact on our city and region.

I strongly support option 1 and oppose option 2. Please keep the Capital Extension on track. Don’t let personal politics and hypothetical fear mongering get in the way of what’s best for the people of Phoenix. Voters continually strongly support light rail as it provides a great affordable and green mass transit option and brings numerous benefits including spurring economic development. Losing federal funding here would be a disaster inflicted for no logical reason.

Expansion of light rail benefits everyone by improving access to transportation, reducing traffic/congestion throughout the valley, and reducing our carbon footprint. We will lose out on meaningful federal funding if we do not move forward with this project.

I’m urging approval of the Capitol Extension. Delaying it risks $250M in federal funding and could derail future west-side expansion. Light rail cuts congestion, offers real transportation choices and keeps Phoenix competitive with other major cities. Please move this project forward and protect the investment our city needs.

I am here in favor of the light rail projects to both the capitol and the I-10 expansion. These have been approved by the voters, and this needs to be implemented. Congress recently approved the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and if we don't utilize that money, another state will. Delaying this further is unnecessary and goes against what the voters have supported multiple times. I am flying into Sky Harbor today, and will be using the light rail to get home. Others need this too.

We desperately need more light rail networks in the Valley. As a daily commuter, there’s way too many people on the road. And with cars getting more and more expensive, people my age often don’t have many options for transportation. We need the West Valley light rail expansion. But it must not be in the median. We need an alternative plan but we still need the Light Rail. Period.

When faced with two bad options, the council should reject both and find a better alternative. Light rail should absolutely be extended to the state capitol despite opposition from Republicans in the legislature. It makes little sense, however, to continue farther west via I-10. Light rail in a freeway alignment results in noisy, smoggy stations with few destinations within walking distance. Build light rail to the capitol as quickly as possible while choosing a better route to serve Maryvale.

I work near the Capitol and strongly support the Capitol Extension (Option 1). Phoenix voters have supported light-rail extensions in multiple elections and countless planning meetings, public outreach sessions, and comments to council members. Delaying further and giving up $250 million in federal funds is insanity. The economic impact of either the "northern" route from 15th Avenue or the Seventh Avenue route will benefit Phoenix for decades to come.

I am in strong support of the Capitol Extension. As a resident of the area, this project is a vital connection to the the public transit system. Delaying or cancelling is a slap in the face to those who have invested time and energy into this project for a decade plus. Voters have decided repeatedly to move forward with light rail, so it would be shameful for Kate Gallego & the City of Phoenix to kill light rail at the threat of republican state legislators & potentially forfeit federal funding.
