This is clearly going to criminalize homelessness. Until you create infrastructure to support the livelihood of the unsheltered community living here, this is outlandish to even propose. Let unsheltered people exist. HELP them rather than kicking them out.
Based on the statement made by Kathryn Boris of the Public Transit Department, reducing sidewalk space would lead to unsafe conditions for those who use public transit. Boris states that this may negatively impact the community.
I support the homeless. Jesus did not refuse anyone and as human beings we should treat everyone as our brothers and sisters.
I would hope you would not turn your back on your family in need.
The houseless residents of Phoenix are our neighbors and your constituents. They deserve better, more humane treatment. They deserve dignified housing and care. Further privatizing property around Phoenix is cruel. That money and energy should be spent on real solutions to care for houseless folks.
It is not a crime to be houseless and it could happen to anyone. This constant attack on their livelihood is absolutely disgraceful. There has been no attempts to genuinely help them on any of your end yet you want to destroy any attempts they do to help themselves? These are human beings were talking about.
We need to respect and protect our unhoused neighbors. How can a city council make decisions negatively impacting vulnerable individuals and communities who are not involved in the conversation? Stop the criminalization of houselessness. Vote no.
taking more action against our unhoused friends and neighbors during a pandemic, during these cold winter temperatures is absolutely unnecessary and downright atrocious. This land does not need to be privatized and should be left alone. Homeless people are still human beings, have some humanity.
Our houseless community members need a place to be able to stay. Housing needs to be addressed for them and as long as it is not and more people are being evicted in the face of covid forcing these HUMAN BEINGS to leave any makeshift housing or support they find is literal murder
Stop committing violence to our unsheltered neighbors. They are humans just as we are and there have been far too many deaths this year already. Leave our neighbors ALONE.
This will only further inflict pain our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. Treat them with dignity and respect, by creating policies which prevent displacement in the first place, and solutions to help them get back on their feet. They are living a nightmare every second of every day, and this would only add to their trauma. Their mental, emotional, and physical well-being was long ignored by the policy and zoning practices brought forth by the city. Make it right.

Protect our unhouse neighbors
No! We need to support and help our unsheltered community not exile them.

It is shameful & disgusting to do this during a global pandemic. Being unsheltered is not and should not be a crime.
Just no to this! We must protect our communities!

This city should be protecting its people. Unhoused people are still part of our city and they are only being further criminalized.
We should support our unsheltered community - criminalizing it does nothing but perpetuate violence
Defund the police and invest in the community!

The city wastes so much energy and resources criminalizing its most vulnerable citizens rather than supporting them. Disgraceful.

I am in opposition to the rezoning. Keep the space public not private.
Unhoused people deserve better than this. Their city should support them, not continue to make their lives harder.
Further criminalizing homelessness during a pandemic is disgusting, shame on you.
