I urge the city to support the lightrail extension. It'd have many benefits, but speaking as a college student who lives ~30-35 min from my campus in good traffic, I can say with certainty that having the option to take the lightrail will be helpful to many students and the PHX community overall. Especially in this economy when budgets are tight, gas is expensive, car maintenance is expensive, and costs of other necessities aren't decreasing much if at all.
I strongly support the Capitol Extension and the I-10 West Extension. The people of Phoenix and the whole Valley deserve world-class public transit. We are the 5th largest metro in the country, we need to build like it. The city should be streamlining public transit projects, not delaying them. These extensions will not only improve transit connectivity, but will also encourage economic development in areas that desperately need it. Get it done! Let's move these projects forward.
Phoenix is at an inflection point. We are one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and the decisions made today about transportation will determine whether we remain economically competitive, fiscally responsible, and livable in the decades ahead. Expanding light rail is not simply a transit investment, it is a long-term strategy for growth, access, and resilience. I support moving forward with the proposed extension and urge the Council to vote in favor of its expansion.
Light rail is an immeasurable asset to our community; its sum is greater than its parts. We need to remain steadfast in our commitment to growing light rail across the entire valley, reducing traffic and emissions, increasing sense of community, and making it safer and easier to get around.
West Phoenix has some of the city’s most transit dependent communities. We need to bring the light rail ASAP! Capex is the fastest step to get us there. Don’t kill this project by reevaluating the alignment.
I strongly support Option 1. As a light rail user, I would love to have access to a larger part of Phoenix. To meet the goals in the City's climate change mitigation plan, we must expand and improve Light Rail service without delay. I have attended public meetings about the Capitol Extension for nearly two years now. We're ready for action and to move forward without further delay.
I support option 1. Voters have voted four times in support of this project, and City Council has already voted several times on the route. We need better public transportation in Phoenix to support the rapid growth and keep more cars off the roads. The city should respect the decision of the voters and keep its promises.
I strongly support option 1. As a light rail user, I would love to have access to a larger part of Phoenix. An expanded light rail means more residents can access more of Phoenix, as well as less traffic, pollution, and car accidents.
As a long time resident of Phoenix, I fully support this project. At its current growing rate, Phoenix is falling behind other cities in its expansion of public transportation, which will undeniably lead to more traffic on our streets.
I strongly support option 1 and to honor the voters 4 decisions to serve West Phoenix with rail. Under no circumstances should there be a reevaluation of this project and risk us losing out on necessary funding to bring light rail Maryvale.
Please continue to support public transit! The more accessible it is the more people will take it!
I’d rather that money go into public transit than another unnecessary freeway expansion! Which just creates induced demand which has been proven to actually make traffic worse.
I support Option 1 to continue progress and connect West Phoenix to the light rail system. Investment in high-quality public transportation is essential for our growing city and is popular among voters. Delays and reevaluation will be costly and put the project in a precarious position.
I grew up by Van Buren and 67th and I strongly support option 1. Over the years, I’ve seen the traffic conditions worsen to the point that it actively impacts people’s quality of life. People prefer staying home over driving one hour one way to run errands. West Phoenix deserves the same improved access to public transportation that’s been given to the East. I strongly encourage and ask that you choose to move forward with promptly building the light rail expansion without any delays.
I support option 1. We must continue building with the funds that we have allocated. To stop building is to waste an opportunity that would impact multiple generations. The fifth most populous city deserves robust public transit network. Do not commit the same mistake as Seattle in the 60s when metro funding was rejected and Seattle is now paying the price 30 years later. The opportunity is now and we must seize it!
As a former Rail Transit Planner for Tempe and Mesa, my duty was to answer those who supported, and those who doubted, success of the first rail line. Years later, we witness the mobility provided and positive economic impact created by the rail development, enough to warrant completing several extensions. Given the explosive growth in the West Valley, completing this line is a logical next step toward meeting mobility needs and creating economic opportunities.

I support option 1 because more transit options means less cars on the road, less traffic, less fatalities, and less carbon in our air.
To be a great (and sustainable) city, Phoenix needs to support public transportation.
