The CRB is funded--great. I am 100% in support of that. But while giving the Phx PD more money?? Seems like a half-ass attempt to appease everyone, but if you really wanted to appease everyone then the Phx PD would have the same funding as last year--NOT an increase. Personally, I think the Phx PD should have a decrease in funding but apparently we like to defund education more than we like to defund the police & then we wonder why we are ranked low in education and high in police brutalilty

Phoenix police are being asked to perform functions that they have no training or qualifications to perform. When we are facing a housing shortage, a mental health crisis, and an addiction crisis, why are we hiring more officers to deal with the consequences? Invest in community resources to solve the problem, not more gun-wielding officers!

Phoenix needs more affordable housing, NOT an increase in police funding. There is no reason for the Phoenix PD to be receiving 42% of the city's general funds. $745 million?? WHY? That money should be spent on improving the lives of Phoenix residents. Put my taxpayer dollars towards youth programs and developing my community.

Please reconsider the increase in funding of the Phoenix Police Department. We must find alternative ways to address the issues that the police are often forced to address, by increasing funding of social welfare programs. Please reduce the budget for the police department by at least $30 million and reallocate it to programs that address racial justice, housing, homelessness, and domestic violence. The police too often harm our black brothers and sisters.

    Thank you.

I request that the city DOES NOT fund any expenses or staff of the Phoenix PD union, or any other employee union. The union does not represent me. It does not represent taxpayers. It does not represent or defend the city. Unions should be supported by dues-paying union members. Period. The union's loyalty and focus is solely for its members. I apologize for commenting so late in the cycle. But... IT IS NOT TOO LATE  to eliminate a clear and ethical conflict of interest. We need the $$ elsewhere.
