Do not pass this budget. We need much less money going to "public safety" which is not making us safer, and more money going to community development and enrichment. If we help redirect this money to mental health and addiction services, this will eliminate the need for so much money going to our police force. PHX PD is the deadliest police department in the nation.

Please reduce funding to the police department and allocate the funds to community/economic development and human services. Remember, you only have one job. Can you guess what that is? If you think anything other than “represent your constituents,” you need to resign. You’re having a public outcry for police reform. If you don’t stand up now, you’re going to be on the wrong side of history. How do you want your name written in the history books?

Please reallocate the $744 million dollars into community programs we so desperately need. We do not need strangers with militized weapons. We need educators, social workers, rehabilitation facilities and workers, therapists and doctors.

$744 million dollars is absolutely unacceptable to fund more police brutality! The Phoenix PD is absolutely deadly to our communities and criminalizes, harms, and harasses our Black community. This amount of money can be utilized to help so many other programs that are in desperate need such as housing, healthcare, and education! Invest in our community and people, that can directly benefit from more social programs. Your budget priority should end police brutality and not fuel it even further

I oppose the disproportionately large investment into “public safety” and urge a redistribution of wealth into diverse community development and enrichment programs, structures, and support systems- mental health and addiction services and resources, more art, more nature, more people, more equity. Even with ALL your current allocations towards these TOTALED, they make up a third of your investment into policing. Put your money where the people are.

I oppose this budget because police funding already has a huge surplus compared to community services. Arizona citizens like myself are asking you to show that your care about us by investing in our schools, community, and neighborhood programs. Do not increase police funds by $744 million when there are better uses for that money.

Do not approve this budget! The Police hold millions of dollars that could be spent improving the community and standard of living for everyone in Phoenix. Namely black and brown individuals. We do not need LRADs or military weapons, we don't need cops armed with weapons that make it easier for them to hurt citizens. They need to be defended since they can obviously not be reformed.

I strongly oppose this budget and the $744 million allocated to Phoenix PD. I urge City Council to redirect those funds to community, health, and human services.

I oppose the nearly 3/4 billion dollar proposed budget for “Public Safety”. We, the tax payers, now have to pay for the lawsuits stemming from the Phx PD’s occupation and rape of the Garfield Historic District. PHX PD has shown they are not to be trusted and are nothing more than career criminals. Defund the Phoenix Police Department and invest in community development.

Please do not approve this budget! The people of Phoenix are asking you to defund the deadliest police department in America. You should listen to your community and do the right thing.

We, the People you represent, ask that you do NOT go forth with approving the current budget which so heavily funds the police. PLEASE do better at allocating taxpayer money to protect our community from unnecessary death. Please do better at hearing our cries. Please do better at representing our interests and fighting for them. Please do better than this budget.

As a Phoenix resident, I oppose this budget. It ignores the needs and demands of our people and funds the Phoenix PD. Time and time again, Phoenix PD has proven that they terrorize our neighborhoods and do not support community safety. As a Black woman, I urge the City Council to vote NO, go back to the drawing board, and develop a plan that divests and reallocates funds, disarms, and ultimately dismantles an institution intended only to enact state violence and steal people's futures.

I oppose the $744 million for Phoenix PD. This department has a long history of violence and more money should be invested in community programs. As a constituent of District 3, I ask councilwoman Debra Stark to oppose the budget. Vote NO.

As a resident and Phoenix native, I strongly oppose the proposed budget for the Phoenix Police Department. I ask and plead that these funds be reallocated to areas that are underserved and underfunded, specifically education and mental health resources. I urge that an extension be created that dispatches Nurses and Mental health counselors to situations to help de-escalate, isolate, and control a situation instead of having an armed officer called. Thank you for your time.

I am strongly opposed to the Phoenix Police receiving a budget in excess of $700 million dollars given that they are fraught with issues and known as the deadliest police force in the nation. In a state ranked 47th in education it is absurd that the police should receive such an enormous budget when there are other programs that urgently need more funding.

I am a Phoenix resident, born and raised, and I strongly oppose the proposed 2020–21 budget. The Phoenix community demands a reallocation of funds from police to our suffering community programs. Invest in your community and provide adequate healthcare, education, after school care, housing, unemployment, arts and culture programs and any others that will in turn heal and protect our community. Shift your focus from our deadly police force to the people that make Phoenix a better place.

I wholeheartedly oppose item #24. I encourage the council to vote no on $744 million for PHX PD. This money should be reallocated to community programs relating to mental health & domestic violence, community food groups, and services that support our unhoused community.

I oppose the outrageous $744 million budget for the Phoenix PD. This money should be reallocated toward community development and engagement. The Phx PD has one of the highest rates of civilian killings in the country. We can no longer pump tax money into brutality and injustice at the hands of the Phx PD.

I am a Phoenix resident and I strongly oppose the proposed budget. The Phoenix Police Department has an ugly history of brutality and excessive force, and has resisted oversight and repercussions for decades. They are not deserving of the absurd budget allocations proposed. Much of that money should be directed towards more worthy causes within our community, such as public housing, environmental services, community improvement and reinvestment funds, and many other social services. Vote no.

I oppose the increased funding for the Phoenix Police Department. This money should go to community programs. The Department has not shown a need for it and is one of the mostly deadly in the country.
