We demand that Phoenix City Council Members vote NO on the CPLC proposed development at The City Council cannot approve of a project that lacks community support and re-enforces anti-Blackness. Any developer who refuses to engage in a dialogue about how to meet the actual needs of those most at risk of displacement in the South Phoenix community, should be denied.

The metrics used to qualify affordable housing severely overestimate the local median income in this zip code, and this is clearly an attempt to gentrify/re-segregate this community. Community members were not properly consulted/included in the process.

What we really need at this time is more shelter beds and certified trauma workers responding to homeless. Why are you punishing the less fortunate? Those that don't have the availability and wealth you do to get the help they need. We should take a step as a community and thinking about what we are truly valuing when we pass things such as this. Let's work for our community instead, do the job that you where placed here to do. That of provide proper aid and resources to the community at large.

The CPLC cares more about profits than community care! We cannot let this historically Black neighborhood fall victim to Gentrification like so many others. Black history matters. We need to stop wiping out the history of POC and BIPOC.

The CPLC defines "affordable housing" by what's affordable for people making TWICE the median income for this project's local zipcode! This is blatantly wrong. We need real investment in communities, not predatory "development."

The city council needs to vote NO against CPLC development project that further displaces the residents in the South Mountain Village neighborhood. CPLC has ignored the concerns surrounding their project by local Black organizers and failed to consider the actual median income for the residents in the area showing the lack of affordability.

Please oppose this agenda item. If you allow this building to move forward, we jumpstart the gentrification process. CPLC didn't even consult the community!

I oppose Item 71. This development project does not have community support, and Chicanos Por La Causa has refused to meet with Black leadership to discuss the needs of those who will be most directly impacted by displacement in South Phoenix. The city should deny CPLC the opportunity for this development project.

I live in this neighborhood and go by this lot all the time. It has been empty for some time now.
Some homes for families to move in would be great.

Nobody is getting displaced, the lot is EMPTY. NOBODY LIVES THERE. NOBODY IS GETTING DISPLACED.

    Thank you.

I live next to South Mountain. I rent from Black owners. I do NOT want this area to be "gentrified" because affordable housing is NOT affordable! The history of South Mountain is one of community. Did you know that South Phoenix is historically black and mexican because brown people used to not be allowed to own property north of the Rio Salado? Now you want to increase the prices so that they can't live here and are pushed to another city? It's criminal.

No tricky data engineering to use our affordable development dollars. No Black displacement. No to the CPLC

I urge you to vote no on this item. Far too many people will be displaced and we must prioritize people over property.

Please vote NO. Chicanos Por La Causa did not engage with local Black leadership about this project, and that is a MUST for developing in any area. Please vote NO to say NO to displacement, gentrification, and re-segregation in South Phoenix.

I oppose Item 71. This development project does not have community support, and Chicanos Por La Causa has refused to meet with Black leadership to discuss the needs of those who will be most directly impacted by displacement in South Phoenix. CPLC has been irresponsible and anti-Black in their development processes and practices, while also putting undocumented people at increased risk for displacement. For these reasons, the city should deny CPLC the opportunity for this development project.

I strongly oppose this new development. CPLC has failed to consult the community and this development will push people out of their homes and neighborhoods. The numbers used to qualify this development as affordable housing are double the median income in the local zip code. This is not affordable housing and CPLC is using predatory development practices.

I strongly oppose the CPLC development project. They did not communicate with the community to understand the needs and real average incomes in the area. This kind of behavior is systemic racism at work. What will happen (and has happened many times over) is mass displacement of the black community. When asked why this is happening, this will be blamed on numbers and statistics rather then the purposeful lack of communication with residents and most likely intent of gentrification.

This project doesn't seem to benefit the community it is being built in, and the local planning committee rejected the proposal. CPLC has not engaged the black community to address the issues raised about this development either. Affordable housing is one of the biggest issues Phoenix is facing right now, and this will only be detrimental to the neighborhood.

I oppose this item! Please vote no! The People over Property initiative reached out to Chicanos Por La Causa to discuss a development in a 25% black neighborhood that is facing rampant criminalization. CPLC refused to have a dialogue- which seems that they care more about profits than community. The metrics used by CPLC to qualify "affordable housing" are based off a median income which is double that of the project's local zip code. This is predatory development practices and must be stopped!
