This is a predatory development and I urge you to vote no. Do not displace families and who need affordable housing.

The village planning committee voted against this project because it will negatively impact the community by displacing families.

The best interest of the most impacted should be centered in decision-making/initiatives. This is only done through equitable community engagement. In this case, the South Phoenix community was not heard and the new development project CPLC is proposing will further the health disparities in South Phoenix. If City Council seeks to promote health & vibrant communities, the community itself must inform and drive the work. A Vote of No is necessary until there is engagement of the community.

This proposal includes housing at nearly double the AMI of the area. This will unaffordable to many and will displace countless families. We need a plan that is actually affordable for the community.

Vote no on this proposal which does not center those most directly impacted by health disparity in the South Mountain Village nor will it deliver on its promise of being affordable for the communities that live there.

THIS IS AN ATTEMPT AT GENTRIFICATION. I demand that the council vote no! Based on the median income of this area most families who currently reside there would be displaced after not being able to afford the increase in housing costs. This is a predatory practice we cannot allow to move forward!

CPLC is going against the best interest of the South Phoenix community that is in dire need of affordable housing. The Village Planning committee voted against this project for this reason and the City Council will be ignoring the hard work of gathering community input in light rail development in this area and only contributing to the gentrification and displacement of the very people CPLC claims to serve in its mission if this project is approved. Please vote NO against this development.

The proposal does not evaluate the impact the project would have on the local community. To prevent greater health disparities within the community, the project should be reconsidered.

I am disappointed that CPLC did not consult with community leaders about this proposal even when directly requested. CPLC promises affordable housing, but many people in the community would not be able to afford to live at the property. The city of Phoenix needs to choose people over property and vote no on this project. Any affordable housing solution should be community-based. These developers have shown little interest in the community.

I oppose this proposed property development project in South Phoenix because it does not center those directly impacted by health disparity in the South Mountain Village, nor will it deliver on its promise of being affordable for the communities that live in this community. CPLC has declined to engage with the community calling for them to confront issues of the project's lack of affordability and the risk of community displacement, and I therefore strictly oppose this application.

    I do not support

The fact that CPLC did not consult with the very community that this proposal is planning to build on top off shows only willful ignorance and active hate. Please put people over property and choose to invest instead of gentrify.

In line with the People Over Property Initiative, I oppose the CPLC development project. CPLC has denied community members and organizers the opportunity to play a part in directly shaping development efforts to meet their present and future needs. When profit for gentrifying developers takes precedence over providing quality affordable housing, POC, working class individuals, and those released from the carceral system will be unjustly displaced and their communities subject to fragmentation.

Vote no on this. Put the citizens over the companies interest.

Deny this until developers engage in conversation with the community’s most marginalized populations with the highest risk for displacement.

I'm a Phoenix resident and I urge the Council to vote NO on this ordinance. CPLC claims this is an affordable housing project but the majoritsy of people in the community will not be able to afford to live there. This will cause further gentrification and re-segregation. CPLC needs to scrap this project and start over with input from the community it directly affects - primarily Black families and Black-led organizations that CPLC has refused to work with.

Our community deserves better. CPLC is trying to move forward without talking to black residents who will be directly affected. Please vote NO!

The continued marginalization and segregation of black, low-income, and formerly incarcerated community members in favor of corporate profit must come to an end. No large-scale development project should be approved without the engagement of those whose lives stand to be impacted the most.

Council members, you should all oppose this item because it does not serve the people of South Phoenix. It is known that the developers do not care for the community they hope to exploit and gentrify through their disinterest in even having a conversation with local leaders and concerned members. Their plan is to deny its use for local residents by ways of gentrification. Vote no to all developments not consulted by its people.

CPLC did not have a dialogue with the community and they do not have community support. I oppose this proposal. We must put people over property. Vote NO
