71 Amend City Code - Ordinance Adoption - Rezoning Application Z-58-19-7 (Chicanos Por La Causa PUD) - Northeast Corner of 6th Avenue and Broadway Road (Ordinance G-6716)
I oppose the Rezoning Application. CPLC has failed to work with the people of South Mountain Village and proved itself to be an unreliable neighbor who does not have that communities best interests at heart. Such disrespect for the residents of South Mountain Village disqualifies CPLC from developing in their neighborhoods.
As our city continues to grow and expand, we need organizations that prioritize our community, not their profits. CPLC is not that organization. I strongly oppose and if you care about our community, you will do the same.
I oppose strongly. CPLC's plan does NOT center the people most impacted by health disparities in South Mountain Village. CPLC's plan will NOT deliver on its promise to make these spaces affordable places to live for the community and people impacted by their plan. If their plan does not address the needs of the people, their plan will center profits and property over people. People are far more important to me than property and wealth, and I urge you to take the same stance and vote no.
We need to think of the community that will be most impacted by this initiative. What will happen to them? Why has this not been addressed? It continues the narrative of being anti-Black. It will continue the narrative of community leaders not addressing the most marginalized. We need to change this narrative. Vote no to the CPLC initiative.
The City of Council must vote NO on this development and work to build something that involves community leaders and is responsive to community needs. We must make affordability to the current community a core value of housing developments. It is simply not ok to drive people out of their neighborhoods, and certainly not in a way that disproportionately affects Black people, POC, and formerly incarcerated individuals. If we are looking to build a safer, happier, healthier city, vote NO!
We need to oppose the CPLC initiative and invest in community owned businesses with Black owners.Gentrification destroys the individuality of our city. People's lives are more important than valuable property.
You need to listen to the local voices and especially black leadership to identify the real needs to the residents on the south side. Failure to do so is willful negligence that promotes gentrification, displacement, and inevitable health disparities that follow. Vote NO on the CPLC development and show that you value people over profit.
It is a detriment to the people of Phoenix to move forward with the CPLC development. It will cause the loss of neighbors, the separation of families, traumatic displacement, and harm the Black community. IF you care about Black people, in your (elected) position of power within this city, THEN you will listen to Black people. CPLC has refused to meaningfully engage with the community, will you? Vote NO on the proposed CPLC property development and keep families safe!
The CPLC project lacks community support and promotes anti-blackness. The developer has failed to meaningfully engage with the community to meet their needs, ultimately promoting gentrification and displacement of long-time community members. The city council must vote NO on this harmful development. Choose PEOPLE OVER PROPERTY
Please vote no on the CPLC development project. CPLC has not demonstrated accountability to Black community leadership and has not addressed community concerns about affordability, displacement, and housing accessibility for people formally incarcerated. The project should not move forward without Black community leadership at the table, and must have a plan in place to ensure this development does not advance gentrification. Please oppose.
Please oppose the CPLC development project. We need more shelter beds, a provider portal funded 100% with no PD access and only certified trauma care workers responding to calls for homelessness.

I ask the City Council to vote NO on this proposal for a CPLC Development project. The proposed housing costs will displace families of the community, especially black and brown families. This project is only furthering the fact that the CLPC has not listened to the local community or engaged with community leaders. Keep voting NO until the priority is on PEOPLE not property.
I ask the city council to vote NO on this. This development project puts property over people. I am concerned that the expensive costs of living will only displace more people.

Please oppose the CPLC development project. Gentrification is harmful.
We need to build up minority communities, not tear them down.
I urge you to vote no; we need to prioritize people over property.

I am opposing this because without affordable rates, this will only push poor black and brown people out, creating greater disparity in the community.
