With COVID-19 surging and hospitals filling up, I have concerns about hundreds of out-of-state athletes and their family members coming to Phoenix and taxing an already stressed system. If the tournaments must continue at least limit them to local/state teams.

Youth sports is incredibly important right now. We already have a rise in teen suicides, taking away the one thing that is good for their mental health right now will be detrimental. Covid has had little to no spread in all my kids sports team with correct mitigation practices.

Let the kids play! This illness has a 99.96% survival rate and I less severe then the flu. The mental health of our kids are at stake. Let the parents decided if they want their kids to participate or not.

We oppose the closure of city parks and cancellations of any youth sports. I am a soccer coach for 6&7 year olds. Most of these kids do online school from home. They are always so happy to see each other, exercise and have fun playing soccer outside. Dr. Fauci recently said that kids are not the spreaders of Covid. The CDC said the safest place for kids to be is at school. Even more outside playing sports. Kids also get depressed. youth Sports is crucial for their mental health.

We need to keep our fields and tournaments open for our kids. Most kids are online with no interaction with their peers. Our kids are not the spreaders. Our tournament directors and coaches have followed all rules and protocols. We are safe. We are a non-contact sport and we are socially distant. Let the kids play.

Please leave fields/parks open! Kids are not spreading covid, but they are getting depressed from no socialization. Being outside and playing is so beneficial for them, especially now that schools are back online. Tournament directors have been following protocols all summer, and parents have been distanced and wearing masks. Please let kids play.

We have come too far and done too much to risk overcrowding our hospitals yet again. I support the cancellation of these tournaments.

I support option A to keep the fields open! Kids need a little normalcy in their life and sports may be their only outlet. The depression and suicide rate in our youth is climbing during this pandemic. I am an ER nurse and kids are not the ones who are sick and are not typically the initial sick contact for the now sick adult. If you plan on closing the fields for kids, then you better shut down the restaurants, bars, stores, hair and nail salons for adults!

Please consider to go with option A! As a parent of young athletes who participate in tournaments, we have admired the amount of cooperation with covid guidelines from the organization, families and players. If need be, add more protocols and they will gladly be followed by the softball community. Please allow these kids to continue working hard and being productive young people. Enjoying the outdoors and staying safe!

Please keep the fields open and allow sports to continue. This physical exercise and sportsmanship are critically important for our children. We are now hearing from the leading medical authority kids should be able to attend in-person school. Sports games and tournaments, when planned and executed safely, should be no exception. If necessary, limit spectators before taking this safe and healthy experience away from our children.

I support keeping out fields open to allow for much needed physical and mental release for our children. Outdoors is one of the safest places that we can be and with the added protection of masks that are required this is a safer place than stores, restaurants and schools. Please keep the fields open and allow activities to continue with the protocols we have in place.

Please keep the fields open. Children are not driving this virus. The Physical and mental health of our children is suffering. Sports are one of the only things kids look forward to these days. Parents and kids are doing their part at the games and practices to play safe. Please don’t take away the last thing these poor kids have.

I spoke to the council back in September when fields were opened. Specific to baseball, teams and families have been very diligent in setting protocols for distance, masking and sanitizing hands. When there have been exposures (that came to the team from a positive away from the fields), teams have quarantined and returned safely. Kids mental and physical health comes through being in school and taking part in sports and other recreational activities. Please keep the parks fully open.

I support option A. I am a parent of a soccer player. Many things can be done to allow kids to continue to safely play sports. They have already lost their school routines and for many, sports is what helps keep their mental health in check. Stricter rules can be put in place at sports facilities, the city/state can restrict out of state teams from coming into Arizona to participate in the tournaments and CDC guidelines can be enforced at tournaments by sports facility management teams.

I oppose the closing of our parks. I have two kids in sports and they have been vital to the mental and physical well being of our children.

As an emergency medicine physician I have cared for numerous small outbreaks from sports teams and support closing the fields until it is safe to reopen using community metrics. Now is not the time when we are surging and hospitalizations are increasing to allow something that will likely continue the spread. Give your frontline health care workers a fighting chance in this pandemic and keep the community safe.

I OPPOSE closing our parks and support Option A. This is an absurd motion, that is just another layer of rights being stripped away from us. The athletes and parents of this community have complied with all recommended guidelines to keep fall/winter sports going. Please do not add more restriction because this will directly affect the kids who are already forfeiting any social interaction with distance learning. I hope the mental and physical health of the community means something to you all.
