I support this. Oversight should be nothing to be afraid of. Especially when it comes to the people expected to hold our lives in their hands. Most of the comments Opposing this seem to be misguided, this is about independent investigations, not defunding or removing police. If you think independent investigations will destroy the police department, there is something seriously wrong and further proves that this is needed.

I strongly oppose Item 89 and ask that the city Council representatives VOTE NO. We DO NOT want to become another Portland, Seattle, Chicago or New York City! It would be detrimental to the city, to businesses that want to locate here, and to the peace of the city. This is nothing more than giving Antifa and BLM the green light to destroy Phoenix and we cannot allow that to happen. What is this mayor thinking?

I STRONGLY OPPOSE agenda item 89 and ask that our Council representatives VOTE NO.
The platform of the "Office of Accountability" is totally misguided and harmful.
    Please VOTE NO on 89!

NO on #89. This is ridiculous that you are even proposing this as a discussion. Do NOT turn us into Chicago, LA, San Francisco. Every democratic run city has horrible ideas and this is just top of the list as BAD. NO, NO, NO.

I can't believe this is even an agenda item let alone seriously being considered! The title sounds good but the reality is that this is an anti-Police measure and similar, if not worse, than policies that have failed throughout the country that have done nothing but destabilize communities and increase crime. AZ Citizens will NOT TOLERATE THIS GARBAGE IN OUR GREAT STATE! Vote NO - if you won't support our police and protect our communities, The People will do it for you!

This is absolutely a no-brainer! Without law and order we have a banana republic and the criminals will run the streets. Law and order will help maintain our great city of Phoenix! Do not allow the propaganda to eliminate the well-being of our communities.

STRONGLY OPPOSE AI #89. We are aware of the implications of this, and don't want to become another Chicago. We want to be properly protected with police as it is now. None of this nonsense as in other cities where you people designate people we did not elect to enforce our laws as we watch our cities burn. DO NOT PASS THIS LEGISLATION.

Police oversight is necessary and I fully support this. No one should fear for their life when engaging with law enforcement.

Absolutely NO on item 89. Do NOT even think about turning Phoenix into a hellhole like Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Baltimore... the list goes on. We don;t have their problems. They have mental health issues if they believe anything good will become of such a ridiculous policy.

I guarantee you that if this passes, WE THE PEOPLE will pick up the slack created by your ignorance. Be careful what you wish for.

Accountability and transparency have nothing to do with the items proposed in agenda item #89. This is politicization of government agencies, and reallocated power away from constituents and into unelected bureaucrats. Not acceptable.

No on item 89. This is another attempt by Marxist organizations to destabilize our nation.

As a very long time resident of Phoenix, since 1966, I have long supported a Police Citizens' Oversight Committee. Although the title of the proposed entity & its composition/mission, may not be exactly the same as prior attempts to create such, I still very strongly support it. The creation of this Office should be seen as part of the long American & Arizona tradition of recognizing the need for accountability & transparency of ALL public entities/institutions. Please approve this Office.

This is not necessary. Police brutality is not surging in Phoenix. There will always be community members that do not trust the Police no matter what is legislated. This in not necessary and similar proposals have been voted down in the past. What is different now?

If this happens and our law enforcement quits. YOU will have to deal with WE THE PEOPLE. Remember that. Antifa/BLM has no rights making their own laws. PERIOD

Equality Arizona is the statewide LGBTQ civil rights advocacy organization. We fully support the establishment of the Office of Accountability and Transparency. Community trust in policing and police departments is increasingly undermined by bad actors, lack of transparency, and lack of accountability. This department is a critical part of reestablishing the public trust and in providing the kind of oversight that policing needs to return to an ethos of community service and accountability.

This ordinance is a political attack on the Phoenix Police department. It is in no way good for the City of Phoenix and the surrounding areas. The ordinance is a "defund scheme" added at the last minute by a socialist/leftist city manager that doesn't understand the real world consequences of defunding and politicizing a police department funding. City managers and council members need only to look at the cities that have gone down this dark road to defunding the police budget. NO on 89!

I strongly oppose Item 89. We need more police, not less. We need to support our sworn officers and create an environment that attracts more.
