A healthy Arts & Culture scene supports every aspect of our community. Arts educators train the creative workforce and supplements youth programs. Venues provide facilities needed by business, government, health, & non-profit entities. City developers use the quality of life appeal of A&C to entice businesses to our area. When someone sees a concert, they also patronize a restaurant. Arts and Culture is a force multiplier that reaches everyone; it needs and deserves a boost more than ever.

I strongly oppose the proposed usage of Covid funding. The art programs were not forced to shut down, unlike bars, restaurants, and other small businesses. Small businesses were affected the most by our unnecessary lockdowns, and they should be assisted the most with our Covid relief funds. We should most definitely be supporting and funding our public safety and police force. The rise of violence increased during Covid and our police had to deal with the rioting and looting every day. Fund them

I Oppose your decision to reject our Phoenix Police force in any funding from Covid relief!!... SUPPORT OUR POLICE! SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITIES who have seen crime rise, and also domestic violence and drug abuse! How can you possibly leave our families and innocent people unprotected after all the fallout from the destructive extended lock-downs you imposed on businesses and communities?! People are struggling, and you ignore them!

The Covid relief money should be going to directly support those most affected by the Covid lockdowns - small businesses and those suffering from domestic abuse and mental health. The unnecessary lockdowns were devastating for all of these and the relief money should be allocated there. Also, it is unimaginable how no funding will be going to our public safety and police. Last summer they were working on the clock 24 hours a day to prevent the rioting and looting, and they should be funded!

I strongly support funding for arts and culture with a portion of this federal funding. This funding will help arts organizations and artists throughout the City and is a key investment in jobs and our economy. The arts sector generated $9.3 billion to Arizona’s economy in 2019 and employed over 90,000 Arizonans, with the majority of that economic activity benefiting Phoenix. Arts and culture are also a critical source of emotional support for our community when it is needed most. Thank you!

Our Covid relief funds should be going to support and assist the MOST taxpayers. The way to do this is to support small businesses in order to boost our economy since that was the hardest hit when they were forced to close during Covid. The success of small business equals the success of our economy. Also, funding should most definitely go for our police. They had to work 24 hours a day last summer during the riots and risk their lives and they should be supported. Back the Blue!

Without funding public safety and Phoenix Police, funding to these other areas will be worthless. Crime is skyrocketing which is just what Carlos Garcia wants. This funding should be for public safety, vets, small business, mental and behavioral health support. NO funding to asylum seekers or any services for undocumented persons. No free child care or bus transportation to a select group (perhaps some discounts but not free). none of this is needed if we are not safe in our neighborhoods.

I am in support of using these ARPA funds ($5 million) for the arts, including funding for nonprofit arts & culture organizations, individual artists, and community programs. Don't forget that culture includes history organizations and historic preservation organizations. It is vital that we continue to support the arts & artists as well as history and historic preservation. These people & organizations help to boost our economy & show the rest of the country that WE CARE!

Funding the Arts = Funding the Community

When I look at the proposed programs, no where do I see any allocation for the Police Department who have suffered losses and been severely defamed over the past 18 months but still are assisting the community. Yet, we are looking to fund the Convention Center losses with $22,400,000. WE NEED TO SUPPORT THOSE THAT SUPPORT US! This is the most egregious lack of support of one of the most important department's in the city. Violent crimes continue to surge, let’s make our neighborhoods safe.

Just curious who the American Rescue Plan intends to rescue. Us apparently if you defund the Police. Doesn't sound like it's for everyday Americans, or Vets. The Police protect us from increasing crime & put themselves between us & the bad guys. It doesn't fund abuse victims but it funds illegals. This is one of many anti-American things coming out these days. PROTECT OUR CITIES and CITIZENS & the way you do that is PROTECT those who protect us...the Police. This madness has to stop.

As a citizen of Phoenix I am pleading with you to use the Covid funds to support matters that affect the citizens of Phoenix. Please use them to support our police, safety, veterans, schools, domestic violence issues, homeless issues, mental health, families, etc.

I implore you not to use City of Phoenix Covid monies for matters that do not aid tax paying citizens of Phoenix.
    Thank you!

Phoenix City Council members and Mayor, I am calling on you to NOT DEFUND THE POLICE. Do not allocate any of the $198,000,000.00 of the Covid $ for asylum seekers to learn how to collect welfare and for the ARTS. We have veterans, battered children and women, and loss of businesses and jobs due to COVID and you want to help the ARTS? What good will that do for folks that have struggled. NO NO NO I OPPOSE.

We’re calling on Phoenix council members to fund:
    1) Free mental health, harm reduction, and addiction services!
    2) Rent, utility, income assistance, free transportation, and child care stipends!
    3) Low barrier shelter / housing and heat relief centers!
    4) Accessible resources for communities hit hardest by covid!

The use of this relief funding is going to shape the way communities recover from the pandemic, especially BIPOC communities hit hardest.

There is a deadly lack of heat relief options, thousands of people are at serious risk. Most of you are concerned about the convention center debt over the hundreds of people who are going to die this summer because of a lack of serious investments in shelter and heat relief. Thousands of PHX residents are going to lose housing next month, and we don’t even have enough accessible shelter beds and housing for those who are unsheltered now! Invest in low barrier shelter and heat relief centers.

Betty Guardado and Carlos Garcia are two of the worst examples of professionalism and support for our police. Too bad newly elected Yassamin (the follower) Ansari, is falling prey to their divisive agendas, hatred of the police and lack of professionalism (Carlos and his T-shirts). Sadly, our Mayor appears to have the same negative opinion of our police, yet, has her own police detail.
