I find this extremely offensive and is outrageous and unacceptable that the City would give Phoenix Police 20-67% raises and have been the most violent and corrupt police in the country particularly with recent extreme corruption and the DOJ investigation.
You need to put funding in housing & homeless.
I'm an extreme victim of Officer Jason Gillespie who almost killed me with his bare hands bc he was enraged that he thought I called the police for help too many times & accused me of trespassing.

I STRONGLY support our police officers and agree with this agenda item to pay them and PLEASE hire more officers!! Strong healthy happy police officers make for a safe happy city!

Rather than increase the resources going to community members for things like housing, mental healthcare, and childcare stipends, council is choosing pay raises for cops in a desperate attempt to recruit officers to a department that’s under investigation for their violent and dehumanizing practices. Phx residents will die because of this choice- from police violence, overdoses, from the heat and from lack of shelter. All things that are preventable when cities put the wellbeing of people first.

I oppose this. We need PUBLIC records of what the police spend their money on. It would reveal a clearer look on misappropriation of funds and the funds used to legally protect cops that murder our community members. This money should be funneled to our community members, not violent police that are currently undergoing multiple investigations for political prosecution and murder. The police don’t deserve any more money. Abolish the police!

Public safety I’d critical for all citizen, especially for the poorer and most vulnerable in our community. We look at the failure of Seattle & Portland and not make the same mistakes.

As a native Phoenician & community leader who strongly supports good policing & a fully funded police force I urge you to vote yes. Phx is at a crisis point- experiencing exponential growth, an increasing homeless pop., rising violent crime & substance abuse issues, all with a dwindling police force that can’t handle it’s current call load. As our elected officials you have an obligation to provide the necessary tools to ensure public safety. Having enough officers is vital.

The PHXPD is under investigation with the Department of Justice for their egregious misconduct and collusion with the Maricopa County Attorney's office to politically prosecute demonstrators in the summer of 2020, for them exercising their right to free speech. There is not a day you can drive around PHX and not excessive police. Where is the data more police = more safety? This organization has no purpose other than false security. It is rewarding and enabling a divisively wicked child.

I fully support these badly needed increases to all levels of compensation for all levels in the Phoenix Police Department. We must continue to attract and retain applicants and officers to meet the needs of the million plus residents who expect laws to be enforced by highly qualified individuals filling the ranks of the Phoenix PD. Those who want fewer Police do not speak for the million plus residents who want a Net Increase in officers in Phoenix. I am a 50 year plus resident.

Vote yes for competitive salaries for our law enforcement. We must be able to recruit more people to work in this field to help combat all the crime in this city. We must pay them better.

It's shocking that there is even a question of whether or not we should be paying the people who risk their lives to protect us a decent wage! In order to have a stable community there must be law and order. I'm well aware of the shortage of police officers and the long wait for a response from the over stretched police department. I'm also very aware of the low morale of our overworked, underfunded police. We need MORE police officers and better paid ones! They earn every penny of their salary!

Please listen to your constituents: we want our money to fund our community not cops. Real public safety would mean we were all housed, fed and had access to clean water and air. Real safety would mean our kids had safe places to grow up and learn. No to pay raises for cops that don’t keep us safe. Invest in us.

YES, I completely SUPPORT those who deserve it 👮🏼‍♂️

Congress screws up everything but yet they just gave themselves a nice fat pay raise?!
WE must support those who are on the front lines of our taking care of our homes and families first.
Return back our support for the those are true to America 🇺🇸
    Life, Liberty and Freedom !

Phoenix Police officers are dealing with insane levels of stress. The least we can do is catch up their pay to all the other cities. Please vote yes on 71.

To put it simply Phoenix Police should not be getting any raise in their budget for many reasons that this council is well aware of. I oppose this budget that neglects the community in favor of supporting a violent police force that has had no accountability.

Please support our police officers by paying them decent wages. Crime is out of control and we need good officers in our city! Thank you!

Vote no on these increases. Voting yes is a perpetuation of systemic racism against non-whites.

As an active PC in North Phoenix, I fully support this bill! These brave men and women risk their lives daily to do a job most of us couldn't or wouldn't do. They are the ones YOU call when trouble comes. If we paid and compensated them better we might not have the mass exodus that we have now. Our response times are some of the worst in the nation due to understaffing! I implore you to support this agenda item as well as agenda #72!

Betty, Yass, Laura, Carlos, and Kate you must VOTE NO! You claim to care about your constituents, yet ignore the violence PPD inflicts on Black, brown and indigenous folx everyday. You actively work against their demands by further funding the nation’s most deadly police force. Do not perpetuate white violence by addressing serious issues with carceral feminism. We repeat: PPD must be DEFUNDED. Do NOT vote to increase a pay raise for state sanctioned violence. Policing is NOT safety. Vote NO!

I fully support funding the police. We need more officers with the increase in population. Whatever we can do to support them, we should be doing.

Phoenix PD absolutely should receive raises. The amount being considered still isn’t enough in my opinion. If these don’t happen then there will be no quality qualified candidates ever again. The current pay is not worth the risk in today’s world let along the officers ability to even afford living in this valley. Please insure these increases happen asap!
