I support the increase in pay for our public safety. They are under paid and under appreciated. They have carried us through hard times and if we expect things to get any better it must start with taking care of the people who protect this city.

I support funding the police. Police officers put their lives in the line for us!

I fully support funding the police. We need more officers with the increase in population. Whatever we can do to support them, we should be doing.

Crime has risen in Phoenix including assaults on our officers. To better attract and retain officers, I support this.

I fully support funding the police. We need more officers with the increase in population. Instead we have experienced a decrease in officers.

In this very chamber, chief Kurtenbach and Chief Williams reported a reduction in crime (to pat themselves on the back) while pleading for more money to fill a sworn officer shortages in 2020, 2021, and now again in 2022. When you look at the numbers, the only thing that has had a significant impact on reducing crime is the reduction in sworn officers on our streets. Why would we reverse the only thing that has meaningfully reduced crime? Vote NO and reallocate this money to no barrier housing

I am in full support of Agenda Item 71. Our police officers put their lives on the line every day to protect our city. Whatever we can do to support them, we should be doing.

Kate, if you vote yes, you will prove yet again that your progressive ideals and ‘feminism’ have no intersectionality and embrace the lie that more policing and prison time keeps us safe. This form of carceral feminism is harmful and supremely selfish given the experiences of Black, Brown, and Indigenous women. We have been telling you, the council, for YEARS that this system was created solely to cage and kill them. Vote NO and invest in community, not cops! #NoCopPayRaise

Pay them better not penalize them. I want better safety and support for the BLUE to keep the officer and enforcing rule of law.

Many comments here are calling for the extreme view of defunding the police. If we look at cities where police have been removed and hated by the community, we see the community becomes a disaster; ridden with crime and fear. No matter the color or status people are - everyone deserves protection. Comments about feminism and privilege don't hold up in the real world when people need the help of someone to protect them. Support competitive and increased salaries for those laying their lives down.

This is long overdue! All work units, sworn and civilian, are under staffed. We need this for retention and new hires, we are losing our staff to outside agencies.

As elected officials your number one priority is public safety. Police officers help us, neighborhood leaders, protect our communities. We need more police and part of how we do that is increased pay. We need our CAOs, we need our NET squads, and we need patrols. Vote YES on this initiative.

100% support increasing wages for our Public Safety. We need to increase every available monetary incentive possible to increase our police department capacity. We are down so many officers it is unsafe for our police officers to do their jobs. We have a surplus of $74,000,000 whatever we can do to increase public safety staffing we need to do NOW.

Kate, your every vote betrays the ideals of Black political solidarity. We’ve had fewer cops every year and crime has gone down while officer involved shootings have gone up. Every opportunity you’ve had, you’ve voted to give more money to police, even after a DOJ investigation, multiple lawsuits and being threatened by a cop! What are you doing here? Trying to squeeze a few more piggy pay raises in before you resign like Jeri and Ed? VOTE NO! #NoPiggyPayRaise

Betty, Yass, Laura, Carlos, and Kate, PPD has cost us lives, millions in lawsuits and already has a bloated budget while you allow other departments to be ineffective and ultimately harmful. Voting yes on this item rewards the continued legacy of disgusting and violent actions of PHX PD and further disenfranchises the people you claim to serve. We demand that you, the so-called progressives on council, vote like Black Lives Matter and Invest in the needs of the people! Vote NO! #NoPiggyPayRaise

Betty, Yass, Laura, Carlos, and Kate you must VOTE NO! You claim to care about your constituents, yet ignore the violence PPD inflicts on Black, brown and indigenous folx everyday. You actively work against their demands by further funding the nation’s most deadly police force. Do not perpetuate white violence by addressing serious issues with carceral feminism. We repeat: PPD must be DEFUNDED. Do NOT vote to increase a pay raise for state sanctioned violence. Policing is NOT safety. Vote NO!
