Please vote yes on this increase. As the 5th largest city in the United States, we need well paid and well trained officers. To get them we need to pay them compatible with other cities. Our officers are doing a tremendous job considering how understaffed the police department is.
In order to attract quality candidates, the Phoenix Police Department needs to offer competitive salaries. With the proposed budget, the department will stand a better chance of filling the current vacancies and the additional positions that will become available in the near future due to pending officer retirements. Our area would like a complete compliment of Community Action Officers not the skeleton staffing that we now have; the proposed salary boost will help resolve this situation.
Year after year the police force is given more resources and funding to militarize themselves and yet this has not shown to help make our communities any safer. Vote no and invest in our communities instead.
Voting yes on this budget rewards the continued legacy of disgusting and violent actions of PHX PD and further disenfranchises the people you claim to serve. It's time we invest in the needs of the people, and not state sanctioned violence. Please do not vote to increase a pay for an agency that time and again has proven both an inability and unwillingness to protect and serve our most vulnerable communities. Policing is not safety. Vote no!
Kate, your every vote betrays the ideals of Black political solidarity. We’ve had fewer cops every year and crime has gone down while officer involved shootings have gone up. Every opportunity you’ve had, you’ve voted to give more money to police, even after a DOJ investigation, multiple lawsuits and being threatened by a cop! What are you doing here? Trying to squeeze a few more piggy pay raises in before you resign like Jeri and Ed? VOTE NO! #NoPiggyPayRaise
Vote yes on amendment to ensure competitive pay to one of the most important resources we have at the city, our law enforcement officers. Our officers are critical to the stability of the infrastructure of Phoenix. We are losing officers at an alarming rate, translating into a surge in crime within the city. The mayor and city council should show support for our officers and prioritize public safety as it is definitely a priority for Phoenix residents.
Given the fact that the Phoenix Police Department is radically understaffed and the high crime rate in our city, I feel that our officers need to be paid at a competitive rate with other cities of our size given the dangerous nature of the service they provide. Competitive pay will help ensure that our good officers will stay. Please vote YES on this issue for the good of those in our city,
Betty, Yass, Laura, Carlos, and Kate: vote no!
Voting yes on this budget rewards the continued legacy of disgusting and violent actions of PHX PD and further disenfranchises the people you claim to serve. We demand that you, the so-called progressives on council, invest in the needs of the people! PPD must be defunded. Do not vote to increase a pay raise for state sanctioned violence. Policing is not safety. Vote no!
Betty, Yass, Laura, Carlos, and Kate you must VOTE NO! You claim to care about your constituents, yet ignore the violence PPD inflicts on Black, brown and indigenous folx everyday. You actively work against their demands by further funding the nation’s most deadly police force. Do not perpetuate white violence by addressing serious issues with carceral feminism. We repeat: PPD must be DEFUNDED. Do NOT vote to increase a pay raise for state sanctioned violence. Policing is NOT safety. Vote NO!
PPD has cost the city millions in lawsuits and already has a bloated budget while other departments are ineffective. Funding other areas like housing, food, transport, healthcare will alleviate the need for force and violence and danger for the police. invest in the needs of the people, your constituents, and put this money toward giving them a better opportunity at life, as opposed to funding people to chase them down and incarcerate them.
Giving these officers a raise is absurd. Much more pressing issues require our tax dollars than underperforming cops. These officers are not protecting our community. They are terrorizing our local residents. They've made headlines for officer-involved shootings and white supremacist-inspired challenge coins. It makes no sense to give them more money. We must invest in resources that will keep us safe, such as mental health services, affordable housing, and education.
We need more policemen and policewomen to enforce the existing laws we have, to protect law-abiding citizens and their property, and keep our city a safe place to work and live.
We need to have a competitive pay scale to keep the police we have, and
attract new hires. Policing can be a dangerous job, as the headlines show us. Their pay should certainly be in proportion to their responsibilities and the risk associated with them.

I come to Phoenix for shows and restaurants and that will stop if the police are not funded properly and receive more support. I refuse to go to NYC or Chicago because of how the police have been treated. My safety ---as well as the full time residents of Phoenix--- must be first on the list--- and that will happen with a strong, supported police staff. Thank you.
Please vote YES! It is absolutely imperative to attract great Men & Women to the PPD!
Please correct the the misguided idea of defunding the PPD!
We Need to hire great men and women
With our borders open and no ide who is coming into this great state, it’s high time to make sure the citizens are protected!
I support pay increase for Phoenix Police Officers. They need to be compensated in line with inflation and to align with what nearing cities are paying their officers. We can't afford to lose any more officers to our neighboring cities. Thanks
We need our police. I am strongly in support of making their compensation more competitive. As the fifth largest city in the nation, we simply cannot afford to continue bleeding law enforcement officers from new recruits all the way up the chain. Phoenix is trending to become like San Francisco and Seattle. That CANNOT continue. This is a good start to combating that. Please vote YES!

Please vote for an increase for our officers to receive competitive pay. We must fund our police.
