Betty, Yass, Laura, Carlos, and Kate you must VOTE NO! You claim to care about your constituents, yet ignore the violence PPD inflicts on Black, brown and indigenous folx everyday. You actively work against their demands by further funding the nation’s most deadly police force.Police are NOT our safety net and they are NOT here to protect, only to punish and harm. We repeat: PPD must be DEFUNDED. Do NOT vote to increase a pay raise for state sanctioned violence. Policing is NOT safety. Vote NO!

Betty, Yass, Laura, Carlos, and Kate please, please VOTE NO! This measure actively endangers your constituents, ESPECIALLY the Black, brown, and indigenous residents of Phoenix, due to violent PPD tactics used daily. This pay raise would further fund the nation’s MOST DEADLY police force. Do not perpetuate white violence by addressing serious issues with carceral feminism. We repeat: PPD must be DEFUNDED. Do NOT vote to raise pay for state sanctioned violence. Policing is not safety. Vote NO

Please support this amendment, the city must ensure job classifications that give the 5th largest city in the US to attract and retain high quality employees to provide sworn police services. A poll conducted early this year revealed that 76% of Phoenix voters support increased police funding. Our violent crime rates continue to rise as evidenced by a 24% increase in homicides 2021/2022 YTD comparison. Public safety is the number one priority for the mayor and city council.

Please support this amendment. We are losing dozens of officers every month with little back fill and hundreds of our most senior officers are already eligible for retirement. Response times are increasing at a scary rate and case loads are pilling up. This amendment will help recruit and retain the officers we need.

Public safety relies on the support from programs that provide accessibility to food, shelter, health, and education.
Police are not a safety net, but rather a punitive means to harm those that are under resourced.
Please oppose the any action of this Agenda Item.

The Phoenix Police Department, which is currently under investigation for its misconduct, does not deserve a pay raise. The City should divert funds from Police to vulnerable communities in the form of housing, education, community development, and human services - each area of which offers intervention points that can prevent crime before it happens by ensuring that people are able to support their basic needs. Police are a fatal end-of-pipe solution that will never address the root of crime.

Our Police are so underpaid, and treated horribly by Council members 45678. They need a raise and we need to hire enough Police to keep Phoenix safe. If Council members oppose, they need to be removed from office because they don't care about Public Safety!

Please do not increase police pay ranges. Use these funds instead for public safety in the form of housing, mental health and addiction services, and community supports.
