The proposed budget shows a grossly overfunded police force and less funding for the services that support the community, like, relief to undocumented workers, public health services, and civilian oversight of PPD.

I want to see a budget that directly addresses the COVID-19 situation by providing needed urgent financial support and relief to our neighbors who need it most, especially folks who are undocumented. Fund programs that look at the big picture of public health and safety (jobs, food, mental health resources, housing support, community programs), no new money to the police or law enforcement. Please maintain the funding for newly implemented police oversight.

We need civilian police oversight. Affordable housing. Continued food and shelter support for underemployed. Housing and mental health care for the homeless just has to happen, it is imperative that these basic needs are met. The homeless in our community need and deserve support.

Fund programs and services that will help us recover from the pandemic. Don’t give more $ to the police. Fund programs that make us healthy and safe - housing, jobs, access to food, mental health resources that don’t involve the police. Keep funding programs that keep the police accountable, especially the Office of Accountability and Transparency and the Traumatic Response Unit. Create a privately resourced relief fund for undocumented people impacted by COVID-19.

I strongly oppose this bill. We need our government to be transparent and equal.

The city should not give more funding to police. Continue to fund civilian oversight of police. The city should also create a privately resourced relief fund for our undocumented community members who have been impacted by Covid-19.

Let’s fund the civilian oversight program instead of funding a police department that has proved incapable of policing itself.

City council needs to create a privately resourced relief fund for undocumented people affected by COVID-19!

This budget doesn't include relief for all of our community members, especially our undocumented folks. Undocumented folks are suffering during this pandemic and we have to do the right thing by supporting them. No more money to the police department instead let's fund the civilian oversight program.

I oppose this budget proposal. We need transparency from our government. We the community have come together and spoken for the importance of civilian oversight of the police. Any budget discussion should serve this important balance of power for the community being served, as well as those who are not being served at all, such as people who are undocumented. Budgets that support the community will also support the police. Budgets that support the police will only support the police. Thank you.

I support funding for public transit, especially the planned light rail extensions. I also support funding to increase and improve walkability and bicycle infrastructure in Phoenix.

Phoenix City Council needs to do the right thing and invest in undocumented communities and the civilian oversight program during this global pandemic. Especially one that is heavily impacting Phoenix. The police do not need more millions, and the city council should not continue alienating their most vulnerable constituents. Phoenix civilians deserve better, and this includes recognizing the undocumented community as essential and as part of the community. Fund people not the police!

We need a budget that includes all of the members of our community, specifically the undocumented folks that are our essential workers.

People need nutrition, transportation, healthcare, mentalcare, housing, and education. If people have these they will flourish along with our city. Police dont help with any od those. But hurt folks and out them into a system that punishes instead of rehabilitating people. Police are like a bucket catching water from a leaky roof. Giving resources is like fixing the roof.

Stop the increased funding to Phoenix PD. Funding needs to go to the Office of Accountability and Transparency in order to keep the police department accountable. Our communities need funding for programs that will assist with housing, jobs, food, healthcare, and mental health assistance. We need a private relief fund for undocumented people impacted by COVID-19.

This budget does not reflect a sustainable plan that prioritizes the health of our communities.
We need city council to step up and create a private fund for our undocumented families who are your essential workers and the backbone of this city.
Also, city council cannot cut civilian oversight, it was voted and approved by them just three months ago and a pandemic is not an excuse to cut civilian oversight. Civilian oversight needs to be funded and be part of this $4 billion dollar budget.

We need to support our our most underserved communities in this time of need. We demand a private fund to help our undocumented brothers and sisters. They are the backbone of this economy and that needs to be reflected in the city’s councils decision today. They may not be eligible to vote but WE are and we will remember who stood with us in this time of crisis and who decided to look the other way. Fund PEOPLE not the police !

I completely oppose a budget for the City of Phoenix that does not include funding to provide relief for our undocumented communities and toward transparent civilian oversight. It is completely appalling as well that the homeless community is herded into such small spaces by the city (see Madison and 9th Ave) and left at risk for illness and heat-related health issues. The amount of money being devoted to police must be redirected to provide actual resources for people in Phoenix.
