The City of Phoenix needs to fund programs and services that will help our communities recover from the pandemic. Our neighbors, our friends, and essential workers who have been impacted deserve to be healthy and safe from police violence. Fund programs that hold police accountable. Make a privately resourced relief fund for undocumented people impacted by COVID-19. Give access to food, housing, jobs, and mental health resources that don't involve police. Please don't endanger our communities.

The Mayor and City Council have shown the highest regard to maintaining support for services most critically needed by their citizens. These include highlights on Housing, Human Services, Community Development and Neighborhood Services. The City is still caring for its most vulnerable and helping those who are now unexpectedly hurting during this economic downturn. Thank you for your vision and your compassion.

The budget is incomplete as presented without the inclusion of funding towards a civilian oversight and relief for undocumented members of our community. Let's not turn a blind eye when members of our community need the assistance the most. Now is not a time to pick and choose who gets support and who does not. It is critical to acknowledge that the pandemic will harm communities who have been marginalized by this budget for far too long. It's time for a wave of change to move in equity.

We need to rethink our spending in Phoenix. Our police force is dangerous and granted unlimited resources with zero accountability and our community is underserved and left vulnerable. We need to fund programs that put people first like jobs, housing, mental health resources and access to food. Everyone that lives in Phoenix deserves a safe and healthy environment. We need resources to heal from this pandemic, not more police.

Our city needs to take a look at itself and ask WHY we grossly overfund the police & underfund literally every other department, ones which we know actually keep our communities safer & healthier. It's also disappointing that another budget hearing rolls around & the people it directly impacts have no idea about it & can't voice their opinion on what is best for their neighbors & families. Please do what is best for our city, no more funding for the police! When in doubt, spread that money out!

We are in support of the City's budget and commend the Mayor and Council for their efforts to balance the budget and invest in economic development, and homeless solutions. We anticipate a significant rise in homelessness due to increased unemployment from COVID-19. As new funding becomes available, we urge our city leaders to invest in transitional and permanent housing, as well as emergency shelter. Our decisions today can positively impact the future and stem the tide of homelessness.

Programs that support housing, access to food, mental health resources and those that promote health and safety for all deserve funding, NOT programs that involve the police as they do not improve any of those areas. Keep funding programs that hold police accountable, especially the Office of Accountability and Transparency and the Traumatic Response Unit. Fund services that make us healthy and safe and create a privately resourced relief fund for undocumented people impacted by COVID-19.

I urge you to take consideration of your constituents desires. We want a relief fund for undocumented folk. There are so many ways these folk contribute to local and statewide economies. It does not make sense to fund the police department when that money could be used to save lives. Do the right thing and listen to us. We all implore you to.

I am opposed to putting a DIME into overseeing our police department. You refuse to acknowledge that we ALREADY have civilian engagement in current oversight committees and are pandering to the those screaming hate toward our cops. The mayor and every council member who posts pictures on their Facebook and Twitter *Cough Stark* should be ashamed of themselves. How two-faced can you really get acting like you support our cops but voting in favor of police hating activists.

Phoenix needs to fund programs that will benefit public health and protect our most vulnerable populations. Undocumented residents pay taxes, work essential jobs and deserve relief. Putting more money towards the already bloated police force does nothing but further endanger already vulnerable communities.

We demand that the City Council fund the agreed upon Civilian Oversight Board. This should not even be a question in a city this size and should have been done years ago. The city has a rainy day fund and it should be used for this and for support for undocumented residents relief. At this time, no one should be going without. Funding the health and well-being of all who live in our city, supports ALL of us!

Phoenix residents deserve a budge that funds civilian oversight of police and funds COVID-19 relief packages for Phoenix residents that are undocumented. Fund the budget items that ensure the health and well-being of all Phoenix residents, including our community members who are undocumented.

We need the city to assist the most vulnerable not funding law enforcement agencies. Undocumented folks contribute, we do not get asked about our immigration status when we have to pay taxes, we should not be asked for status during this CIVID-19 pandemic. We are people too. Not helping us is immoral and racist.

Many Phoenix residents, who pay taxes and contribute to the well-being of our community, have been left out of relief packages simply because they’re undocumented. This is unacceptable. These residents are our friends, neighbors, colleagues, family members, loved ones. They are essential workers and they are essential to our community. We need to fund a relief package for undocumented residents. And we need to fund civilian oversight.

The budget council passes tomorrow is going to shape the recovery of Phx for years to come. We must fund relief for undocumented people, find more money for civilian oversight, and increase the resources to services that actually support the health of our communities. Protecting police funding harms Phx residents. What we need is stable housing, access to health food, good jobs, and free access to mental health support. Our communities are hurting. Police don't solve any of these problems.

Phoenicians deserve a budget that prioritizes the health and wellbeing of people, not one that protects police funding. It's time for city leaders to fund relief for undocumented people- they have kept the Phoenix economy moving the past two months without any protections. Also, we need you to fund civilian oversight at $4 million, not $400,000. And lastly, we need you to invest millions of dollars into mental health resources that don't involve the police. Stop hiring cops!

It is our right to live in a city that prioritizes our health and wellness. Covid-19 has highlighted the disparities in Phoenix. How we decide to spend our budget today, will impact us for generations to come. And those who are most negatively impacted are people of color. We oppose a budget that does not include relief for undocumented people and does not center our health over policing.

No budget about us, without us! The money from the city budget directly impacts our lives - we have a right to decide where it goes.
The budget council passes today is going to shape the recovery of Phoenix communities for years to come. It is extremely important that Council hears community when we say that investing in police will not help our neighborhoods recover from this pandemic.

Create a relief fund for undocumented people! City leaders have a responsibility to the health and well-being of all residents of Phoenix. Undocumented people are essential members of our community and deserve equal relief and support during this time.
