Defund the police. PHX is ranked #1 in killings by cops and #49 in education. The PHX PD is not doing its duty to protect or serve our communities. Reallocate these funds programs that serve our community.

Defund the police and direct the funds back to the community. Phoenix is ranked the number one major city where cop killings occur. The Phoenix PD has failed in its oath to “Protect and Serve” our communities and your continued inaction is a nod of approval of the vile acts being committed against our Black communities. The AZ DPS officer who murdered Dion Johnson was not equipped with a cam showing these funds are misappropriated within the PD.

No additional money should be allocated to police until we fund and implement civilian oversight of police officer discipline and retention. This is critical to prevent and respond to unlawful police violence against civilians.

Additionally the city should direct funding toward developing officer relationships within communities and away from militarization of our police.

Most Phonecians appreciate the work most police officers are doing. Let's work together as a community to do better.

Defund the police and redirect resources into community-based initiatives that can produce real safety and security without the violence and racism inherent in the criminal justice system.

There are greater needs in the city of Phoenix that are more deserving of these funds. I urge the group to reconsider and seriously listen to these comments. Reallocation to areas in which science has proven make greater social, economic, and environmental, impact like programs that support creative and active communities, ones that flourish with educational resources for example. It is time the police force reflect inward, train on deescalation tactics instead of overuse of violent force.

Defund the police! I grew up a member of the Police “family” because my father was a cop and I know from personal experience the sickness that runs rampant in the PHX PD. Use OUR money to help OUR communities.

Phoenix Police is #1 in the nation for murder by police and #49 in education. Please allocate the budget accordingly. Defund the police and direct the funds back to the community, to be used for healthcare, education, community support. We have millions of people unemployed and we're in the middle of a pandemic. The community of Phoenix need the funds more than the police do. AZ officers have not been properly wearing their bodycams, showing a misuse of funds.

I urge the council to reallocate funding from the Phoenix Police Department budget to rehabilitation services, public health, housing, education, and local organizations working to strengthen our community without perpetuating violence and racism. The PPD has been terrorizing our community unchecked and the city needs to pull its support.

Every 5 minutes a person is shot by an Arizona officer. It is time for change and accountability. The funds allocated for the police could help so many people affected by discrimination and police brutality. The police do not need more military style equipment to use against the people while our medical responders are struggling to get the necessities to do their job. Stop lining the police department pockets and do right by the community!

I highly encourage you to defund the Phoenix Police Department. The Phoenix PD is one of the most dangerous police forces in the country and we cannot provide them with financial resources while they continue to ignorantly overlook civilian safety. It would be extremely beneficial to the city as whole if these funds were reallocated to other forms of community outreach, such as education and public health programs.

Phoenix police have among the highest numbers (total or per capita) of civilian killings in the US. Our communities are not safe when our intended protectors so often act violently against the people who make up our community. Please reallocate police funds to emergency response alternatives and other community building programs that will deescalate potentially dangerous situations, help us prevent and address root problems, and raise up individuals rather than drag them down.

I urge Phoenix to defund the police and allocate that money towards community resources that support citizens. Look outside, a riot is the language of the unheard - show you care about the core of the Phoenix community and meet our demands.

We demand that you deny the proposed $944,680,555 allocated to our public safety department for the 2020-21 fiscal year and redirect funds to programs that heal and educate our community. Do so by increasing the proposed $24,760,742 and $26,837,014 budgets for community development and community enrichment to investment in mental health and trauma services, education and after-school care, adequate and affordable housing, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

Increasing the police budget while they continue to kill and terrorize our communities is a disgusting disregard for human life. I insist that you move those funds to measures that will support public health and wellbeing.

We have two whole blocks of homeless people camping in tents in the middle of summer during a pandemic. This money could put them all in comfortable housing and save their lives.

Our nurses and doctors are fighting covid in trash bags, this money could protect them.

Rconsider the proposed $944,600,555 allocated to our Public Safety Department for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Our community asks that you redirect funds to programs for community development and community enrichment.

Defund the Phoenix PD and allocate 2020-21 city funds to policies and programs that will create and sustain a safer community.

I urge the council to reduce funds given to PPD, and instead invest that money in institutions and programs that heal and nurture our communities. We need to invest in stable housing for our ever-growing homeless population. We need money to support all families economically during this recession. We need money for mental health, jobs training, the arts. We need to invest in much to make sure we’re healthy and safe and sustained. We don’t need more cops.

There are community alternatives to excessive policing. Phoenix has been remembered as having one of the deadliest police forces in the country, and funneling thousands of tax dollars into an institution that DOES NOT protect its citizens can no longer stand. Do better. Invest in public schools, community organizations, and other groups that don't hide violence behind a badge.

Phoenix PD is ones of the deadliest in the nation and has no accountability. We need to direct funds to ways to keep communities safe that does not include such abuses of power. Communities thrive under programs of outreach and education.

Defund the police. Our community is hurting. Healthcare workers are risking their lives because they don't have enough equipment, teachers are spending their pittance buying school supplies, and police continue to get insane amounts of money to murder black people. This HAS to stop. DEFUND THE POLICE. FUND THE COMMUNITY.
