1 Discussion and Consideration of Citywide Face Covering Policy

I support a face mask policy. Given that individuals cannot state with 100% certainty whether they carry the virus, individuals cannot make informed decisions as to the risk they pose to other citizens. Moreover, government does mandate the covering of other body parts when in public, so clearly such policy is within their purview. Such a policy, with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities impacted by such a policy, can help us return to a normal way of life most quickly.

I've been working with OSHA regulations and inspections and the N95/P95 are designed for contaminated environments, that means when you exhale through N95 the design is that you are exhaling into contamination, the exhale from P95 mask are vented to breath straight out without filtration, they don't filter the air on the way out. The surgical and cloth mask are worst because the filter it is a lot bigger than the virus. None of the mask are designed to protect us from the virus, will be useless

NO MASKS! The "science" behind masks is controversial. The "science" behind the recent Covid panic is weak and coming from the news media. Covid-specific hospitalizations and deaths are waaaaay down. I am a voter, taxpayer, homeowner, over age 55, and generally law abiding. I will not wear a mask. Will you direct me to be locked up? If so, I will meet Arizona governments in court. Arizona's first responders have more important work than enforcing masks. It is stupid. Make it stop.

Mandating face coverings is a no-brainer for anyone who understands science. From a process & implementation perspective, don't make this squishy with 17 shades of grey where everyone will need a college degree and a flowchart to figure out if they should be wearing one or not. Make it clear & simple: Just make this mandate apply at all times when someone is outside their home. Period.

I oppose city mandate date on mask. 1. The government is over stepping their position, we the people should decide not the government. 2. The CDC already came out and stated their was not health befit to wearing a mask
    3. I believe this mandate would cause more tension in our city’s and counties and continue to divide our people.
    4. Also it we take our first responders away from focusing on the real job at hand protecting our communities.
    5. We should work on a plan to get people health.

I oppose a mandate on masks. 1) This is an overreach by government, let businesses decide. 2) You have not laid out a plan for enforcement of masks, our 911 operators do not need to take calls about people not wearing masks and this is NOT a police issue. 3) As someone who is hearing impaired I rely on reading lips. I am at risk for unpleasant interactions and will have to explain my disability to people which I should not have to do. 4) Not everyone has access or can afford a mask.
