I strongly support a mask mandate in the city of Phoenix. We all need to come together to keep each other safe during this time. Please do not cave to the COVID deniers who will say that there is no science behind this or that the pandemic is not real. You all speak about supporting our healthcare workers and first responders and this is a concrete way that you can take action. Please vote yes on a mask mandate.

Please don't make masks mandatory. Currently a majority of the population wearing them are doing it wrong. Every time they eat or drink they move the mask, then after having touched multiple things, they put the mask along with the germs right back on their mouths where they breath the germs in directly. Many are not even washing them. When you force people to do something they don't want to do, they will be misused causing a worse outbreak. Please do not mandate masks.

No evidence supports covid spread outdoors or in this climate. More government overreach. I believe in freedom and personal responsibility. Not government control and mandates.

Please protect our most vulnerable. I'm a nurse and take care of immunocompromised and elderly patients and want them protected

I strongly support a mask mandate as we need clear leadership from our government on this matter.

This is an extremely easy position to support. Mask usage is cheap, easy, and offers no real risk. It will save lives. It will save thousands of lives. As someone with an auto-immune disorder in the Phoenix area, I am likely one of those lives. What's more, by requiring masks we will all feel safer and thus freer. It will help our economy dramatically in addition to saving lives.

The Surgeon General, WHO and CDC says that masks are useless.
They should only be worn by those caring for Covid patients.
    Strongly oppose!

Living in a community means caring about our neighbors, and masks are a low-barrier way to help protect others and reduce the risk of covid transmission. It’s low hanging policy fruit and does not disrupt day-to-day life. If anything, the little bit of confidence it projects helps bolster our fragile economy. For the good of both public health and our economy, please pass this mask requirement in Phoenix, and please work with regional partners to do the same.

I absolutely support a mask mandate in Phoenix. We are a COVID hotspot and need to stop the spread as much as we can. I also believe we should be taking further measures like an additional lockdown, but at the very least we need a mask mandate.

Please pass this ordinance to protect workers across Phoenix. Few employers are currently mandating mask use from both employees and customers; every worker deserves to go to their job without fear of contracting COVID-19.

Requiring masks for all in public is NOT an encroachment on our rights as citizens. No citizen has the right to put other citizens in danger—that is why we have laws. By not wearing a mask in public, citizens are putting others in danger. Require all Phoenicians to wear masks in public.

Thank you for considering this. I support the measure to mandate the use of face masks in public. This is a simple measure to protect the most vulnerable in our community. Face masks are a proven and effective way to mitigate the risk of contracting COVID19

I fully support this! There is evidence to support the use of masks decreases the spread of coronavirus. Mandatory vaccinations were opposed for the same reasons when they started.....We now have even more research supporting how vaccinations stop the spread. Your choice to not wear a mask does NOT only impact you, it has more of an impact on the people around you...similar to how vaccinations work.

We need more measures to reduce the number of cases in the state. Hospitals are becoming overwhelmed.

I strongly oppose a mandate on masks. There is no scientifically proven research that supports this mandate & it is an overreach by government. Lack of education exists on proper mask usage & studies suggest wearing cloth masks can be detrimental due to increased bacterial infections & lack of healthy oxygen flow. There are no guidelines on how this will be enforced. Individual businesses should be permitted to decide if this is appropriate based on risk assessment.

We tried the whole "personal responsibility" thing when we reopened too soon and look what happened (#1 in new cases). We should be locking down and implementing more financial support for small biz and workers, but we can at least do this. This is the bare minimum. We need a mandate. And not for nothing, but y'all should have given the mayor the authority to act more quickly at the beginning of all this. You could take it back if she overstepped but now you have to work at a snails pace.

I strong support a requirement for masks but think there needs to be some exceptions. Some examples would be while in the act of eating at a restaurant, exercising (but still need to socially distant) and walking your pets. I also think there needs to be some sort of enforcement in order for the vast majority of the people in Phoenix to wear it. We need to have the vast majority of people wearing them to help protect Phoenix from the virus. The medical community is behind this requirement fully.
