I feel as though vaping should not be able to be played down so much like it’s not the dame as smoking. Children are vaping because it’s flavored & easier to get ahold of. I think nobody under 18 should have access in any form to any type of tobacco or vaping products

I believe the tobacco flavor ban is unfair to my business. We are very careful when checking IDs to make sure children cannot access these products and this bill will unfairly impact my store just because it is in Phoenix. People will just drive to other areas and hurt our store. We employ people who rely on this job to provide for their families.

I am Julie Garcia and I am a PHX resident. Flavored products are being used by 97% of middle and high school students using e-cigarettes. 62% of Phoenicians support an enforceable ordinance that restricts the sale of all flavored tobacco products. The City attorney needs to research all options to address the sale of flavored tobacco, one that will withstand the industry efforts to create loopholes & exemptions.

We live in a free country and can make our own decisions about wanting to smoke or not. I think when you hit the age of 21 you know right from wrong and can choose whether to smoke or not. This will also have a negative effect on many businesses. What you are doing is moving our business and sales in Phoenix to different cities near us that are still allowed to sell.

To The Mayor and All Member of the Phoenix Counsel,

I own a wolesale distributorship in the Phoenix area. I have some Menthol carton sales for Phoenix from MSAI data. Just in Menthol cigarettes sold in the past 52 weeks is 800,024 cartons at a average retail price of $80.00 per carton that’s $64,001,920.00 in sales the sale tax on just the cigarettes alone is over $5.3M a year that does not count all the other tobacco and cigar that are sold in Phoenix.

    Thank You,

On behalf of nearly 4000 physicians represented by the Arizona Medical Association (ArMA), I am writing in strong support of the city attorney drafting the most comprehensive ordinance to address tobacco use in the City of Phoenix. We need an ordinance that addresses all flavors, all products, all locations along with a tobacco retail license and the ability to enforce the ordinance. ArMA urges you to vote on the side of public health and a healthy future for Phoenix.

“The test of the morality of a society is what it does for its children.” -Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
This can’t seriously be a debate. Along with the short-term benefits to kids, doing what we can to ban flavored tobacco products to kids has long-term sequelae - decreased COPD, decreased heart disease, decreased stroke. Following science is only for global warming? Stop it. Stop selling tobacco products to children. To children!

I fully support a ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products. The intent is to attract our vulnerable adolescent population who do not understand how addictive and dangerous these products truly are. As a mom and an educator, I find it disgraceful that this legislation isnt already in place.

I am fully in support of banning flavored tobacco products. Tobacco is a highly detrimental, addictive chemical that causes a myriad of health issues for millions of people. There is absolutely no reason to create and promote flavored versions of this horrible chemical other than trying to attract younger buyers. Our youth deserve better! Support our youth, and ban these flavored tobacco products!
